So I'm planning to switch the HDD into the optical bay and put the SSD in the SATA 3 bay to use as my boot and primary drive. My question is if I should get a 7mm SSD or a 9mm one?
I'm planning on getting a 128gb Crucial M4 if that helps clarify anything.

The drive bay in the NP9130/P151EM is 9mm, so if you do get a 7mm SSD you'll have to also find or make a small spacer to prevent the SSD from moving around and damaging the connector (the laptop upgrade kit variant of the Samsung 830 comes with a small plastic spacer, and if you have access to a 3D printer it should be fairly easy to print one). I believe that the M4 is a 9mm SSD, so it would work without any additional effort.

The plastic spacer on the 830 really only raises the drive 2mm or so. You can do the same thing with bits of plastic stuck to the drive. It's easy enough to do. Of course it would be easier just to get the laptop kit.

Yes, it will. I'm using the exact same drive from day 1, just that I got mine direct from crucial's website
