mrmysterious66 found this when he ran CPUID on the NP8130. Mr. Mysterious, was the fan actually maxed at 100% when you took that reading? (Fn + 1). If it's reading 100% pulse width modulation, then, it's an erroneous reading and might just be a bug detecting a sensor that is not actually there.

Does anyone else have a fan reading for the GTX460M? I certainly don't! If CPUID can pick up a PWM fan reading, then there is hope for software control of the fan profile. I don't have it!

    Mine has no such reading.

Oops, I didn't know you created a thread for this Electric Shock.

I posted it in the "main page" by which I assumed you meant the owner's lounge.

    Sorry!

To answer your question, the fans were actually not at 100%, I went over and placed my hand behind both of the vents, which were operating at normal.

Okay, then it's likely reading a phantom reading that is not actually there. If you have Nvidia Inspector, try moving the fan speed slider up and down a few times and applying the results. Does it do anything?

Yeah, it's not letting me move or even touch the fan control, since it's all greyed out.

But just the mere appearance of that PWM Fan control icon warrants an investigation, don't you think?

    Mr. Mysterious

edit: It disappeared! It's not there anymore...this is confusing, ugh...

^ 560M will not allow fan control either and it's likely you don't have it.

It's currently a chipset support issue. Third party solutions are in the works, so it's not a feature you'll be without forever.
