    There's a lot of miscellaneous information flying around about this point but i want to know once and for all before i commit to the purchase;

    Can the GPU on the 8130 (gtx 560m) be upgraded?

    Yes it can be upgraded...however most if not all of the Sager / Clevo dealers will not warrant your machine with any video card other than the 560M.

    At least at this time.... this is the situation. Sorry.

    Ok. It was more something i was thinking of doing down the line rather than straight away (i'd just buy a p150 if that was my plan)

    Might save me the expense of a whole new laptop.

    Thanks a lot guys.

    I followed the same path as Johnny. It is an easy upgrade. Depending where you actually buy the GPU, I think you can still maintain a separate (Clevo-based) warranty on the GPU, but it would not be connected to your Laptop.

    For instance, if the GPU fails. You would only ship back the card.

    I decided against re-selling my 460m in case something happens to avoid any issues.

    It is far cheaper to just buy the card you want on your initial purchase though. I would go down this path if possible.

    Mmm it is a pickle. Realistically i'm not a graphics freak so the 6990m would probably be wasted on me. I'd only buy a new GPU down the line to keep the Clevo up to a medium/high standard of graphics.

    To be honest i still haven't ruled out the Asus g53sw. These decisions are so difficult :(

    I would stick with the Sager/Clevo myself. You have more options with those as they do design them for user upgradability.

    Mmm i was thinking that myself Brett.

    Final question; when the next generation of GPU's are released will they be compatible with the Clevo? Or will i only be able to upgrade the GPU to a more powerful current gen card?

    They are both built on the same motherboard already. You shouldn't have to upgrade. :) (And if you did, it would most likely invalidate your warranty, depending on your retailer).
