i have a problem with the display of my new 8130 with the GTX560m. If i watch a high contrast video such as the new intro cinematic to SWTOR i see green after images of all the fast moving bright objects, such as light sabers. This happens in many circumstances where any bright object quickly fades to black or even if i move my mouse very fast on a black background. I even noticed it on the windows 7 boot screen when the small floating blobs are moving around to form the windows symbol.

Ive used the SWTOR trailer as a good test while messing with just about every video setting, and brightness or contrast setting i can think of or find on the computer. Interestingly if i restart my browser and play the video in full screen mode i will not initially see these after images however if i minimize the screen and return to full screen mode the problem will recur. Also i can generally tell when the problem will happen as the blacks on my screen appear blacker and the brights appear brighter. When the issue is not present i appear to have a poorer contrast ratio (which in my opinion is preferable given this after image effect is very annoying and totally ruins my experience).

If anyone has any ideas as to what is causing this problem i would greatly appreciate it. I will try to get a video capture so i can illustrate the problem more clearly. thanks.

link to youtube showing the effect.

Is your refresh rate changing at all in the games you notice the issues in? If it's going out of the native 60hz, that could cause ghosting or other issues. Also, have you tried reinstalling your Nvidia drivers?

as far as i know the refresh rate is staying at 60hz, Ive tried multiple Nvidia drivers including the supplied driver, the most recent update on sagers website, and some on laptopvideo2go, but still have the same issue.

If you have an external monitor try outputting the video to that and see if you still have the green afterimages.

I was just noticing a red after image on my new 8130 with GTX560 and 95% color gamut glossy screen. I'll be conducting some more tests tomorrow. What screen does your 8130 have, Rick ?

Do you have a link to the HD fullscreen original version of the SWTOR intro that you watched specifically so the rest of us can test if this happens?

I'm reasonably certain it's not going to be an issue, alienlover. This is the first time I am hearing of this particular problem.

tell me, can this play games maxed out at 1080p, but without the goodies like aa, af, hbao, ssao, smoothly? like just cause 2 or bad company 2. Because I am stuck between this and the m14x. The 555m can play games at 720p better then the 560m can at 1080p. And I am really worried about build quality. What is your experience with this lappy?

Looks like an extreme case of ghosting. My bet is on defective LCD.

I read your review. It was very good. So by saying yes it can, is that aimed towards the statement about the 555m being able to play games at 720p better than the 560m playing games at 1080p? Thanks.

Where have you read that? I am between both laptops either. About the build quality what I read on reviews, it is very good (screen is way better), no heating or noisy fan sound like M14x. Size difference is minimal, and clevo is easily full user upgradeable.

I am guessing. I know that the m14x can play bad company 2 at 720p at 63fps avg. All high. The 560m plays at 1080p at about 30fps avg. In jungle levels. The rest of the levels play at about 45. Go to YouTube and type in msi gt683r and find bad company 2 gameplay. It will have been uploaded by gentech pc.

Alienlover, it might be helpful for you to create your own thread with questions. This has gotten off topic and probably is diminishing the chances of OP getting help from members of the forum. It also has a different thread title than what you need, so people who have already looked here and decided they're not interested probably won't come to answer your question :p.

I wonder where the original poster went. We still need the original link to the video he watched so we can test our own panels.

Try the link in my message above. Watch it in 720p full screen. It's the same video he was watching, although I don't know if it's from the same source.

when I scroll my screen (something I do every few MOMENTS!) when browsing the web, the image turns greenish/blue until I stop scrolling. very weird. there seems to be quite a few issues with the 95% gamut screen.

    1. the color shift when moving the image
    2. color shift with slight changes in viewpoint--just a couple of inches changes the tint.
    3. my particular unit is extraordinarily red, but I tamed it by using the Spyder 3 Elite. I don't think Spyder's lower-cost unit would calibrate this screen properly, but I'm not certain. The Elite has more adjustments than it's cheaper brethren.

I'd still buy this screen again, but I do wish I got a better sample of it. It shouldn't be so red. I posted images of it's boot up screen on my own thread about the screen.

My display isn't particularly affected by color issues. Seems like our 95% gamut matte screens vary in random quirks... Do you also have a LEN40B2 panel?

yup. you? (what sucks even more is that I paid the extra $75 for the dead pixel policy--only to get a screen with not apparent dead pixels but with very limited viewing angles. If I look at the screen, even after calibration, from anywhere but dead center, it goes green from below, red from above, left, or right).

There seem to be a bunch of posts popping up about the 95% matte screen having ghosting or other problems. Is this just a few unlucky users or was there a bad batch of screens or something else?

I wish there was some explanation. I am considering RMA with xoticpc... though not sure if the minor problem is worth the hassle.

I got a glossy 95% on an 8150 and have similar issues.

Whats odd is mine only does it in about 3 areas of the screen. Like the far right, dead center and bottom. Top and left are fine.

I can open paint, make the entire screen black and move the bright mouse around and see the trails fade away.

I first noticed it watching a video too.

I am like you, dont think is worth the RMA but does upset me a little. For buying an upgrade screen it does indeed suck. As for the red, yea mine is redish too but seems you got to calibrate these screens and thats not and issue after doing that.

Oh well. I have bad luck with things, lol I just got a new 52" 3d TV and already exchanged once because first had bad pixels and a big scratch on inside of screen. New tv has some banding issues. I am learning to give up and accept I get screwed on expensive items. Seems quality has gone down on things.

    Thanks uncle sam!

Yeaaaaaaaaaaaa i noticed it happening on the lower right, bottom, and center too. Really weird :S... I was also wondering if I should go glossy 95% gamut thinking those panels might not have the issue. Lol guess not :S

p.s. i am going to send xoticpc an email to check if they know of the issue and what can be done :/
