I currently have a sager np2096 and am looking to upgrade.

I am considering both the 8130 and the 5165. The 8130 looks like a better PC, but the battery life looks bad.

Can some one with a 8130 give me some real life number for battery life while doing word processing?

This computer will be mainly be used for work and light gaming.

You won't get more than 3 hours AT MOST, with the 8130, doing light stuff, with all of the power saver options on.

I get around 3 hours using wifi with the screen at 25% (which, I don't think is bad at all for a gaming laptop)

^^How did you manage to get that much battery life out of your P150HM? Might need to make some changes if it'll change things.

I don't believe that at all, but okay. And that's a 8150 not an 8130.

given that the clevo specs mention 180 min, I was pleasantly surprised too :) I am using linux but I don't think that actually makes much of a difference compared to windows,(other than that it maybe gives me easier control over some powersettings). I set the powermizer settings to the lowest value ('adaptive'), set the machine up not to use swap space, only small disk caches for the webbrowser. I think a big factor may be the components: 460M could be using less power than a 485 and definitely less than a 6970M, 4 vs 8GB and the SSD may also help....

8150 with 460M is I think equivalent to 8130 (+ a rubber finish...), and no I am not deluding myself  as I have an actual measurement (in the topic linked above)

The 460M, 560M, 485M, 570M and 580M should all downclock to the same specs, thus drawing a similar amount of power when idle. Only real difference would be an Integrated GPU option and/or a CPU that will draw less power at idle.

ok so there is a gpu in the intel cpu right? so why not disable the nvidia gpu and enable the gpu in the intel chip? is that possible, even if you had to reboot it would give you much better battery life.

It isn't possible on these laptops, as far as I know.

If you're referring to the P150HM/P151HM1/P170HM/x7200 (8150/8130/8170/x7200) it's not possible. The display is physically wired to the discrete GPU. On the other Sandy Bridge Clevo models, the intel IGP is wired to the display, and the discrete GPU passes everything through there. To have optimus, it by definition has to be the latter setup. So unfortunately, there's no real way to make non-optimus models supported. (The Intel GPU just isn't wired to output to anything, you'd get no display from it)

You don't need a reboot, but it's not allowed; the integrated chip is disabled for a dedicated chip. Optimus would come in handy, but it requires hard-wiring, making such a chip un-changeable. The switching ability Dell uses is also handy, but Clevo does not implement it by default. I think if you go with Mythlogic, they may implement it for you by request, but I am NOT SURE so don't be disappointed if they say no.
