Turns on for about a second then does it again some moments later. Is there a way around this? It's not too annoying, but I remember someone mentioning theirs was doing something similiar.

mine does the same thing and its a np8130. It already qualifies as background noise for me and i don't even notice it any more. i think you can use msi afterburner or speedfan to adjust the fan to your liking.

is this a temp thing? cycling on/off to move the heated air out of the case?

if so, hopefully having it set up on the sf-19 will prevent it from doing this :) even if i have to turn on the cooler, it's silent on the lower fan speeds :)

It stays on intermittently after exiting a game or bench for me until it cools again, try forcing full fans for a minute seems to get itto stop for a while.

The fan really does cycle a lot. But it is a 15-inch laptop with some fairly high-end hardware. I guess that's the price you pay. I've gotten used to it.

I've noticed it since day one. Turns on when the temps of the GPU reach either 38C or 40C and cool back down to 37C. This happens over and over again. At least now I know that I am not the only one who is having this issue.

I haven't noticed this at all. Mine's pretty much dead silent when doing light stuff like browsing the web and watching movies.

Did I get the unique unit that has absolutely no quirks?

There was a similar issue with M570RU that was fixed with a later BIOS update.

Hmmm exactly the same issue here with my new Metabox P150HM... Quite annoying when notebook is idle to have fan constantly coming on and off every 5 seconds or so... GPU temp range for fan is between 37-40c for me also... Hoping for a fix sometime soon...

Report it to your sellers, so they can pass it up the chain, which will help Clevo get BIOS updates out faster.

To what settings did you put speedfan Windkull?

    I'm also getting the 37° -> 40° -> 37° every 30 seconds.

Anyone else have this? my Core 1 averages like 3-5 C less than the other 3 cores...

Just got my 8130, and it's been mostly quiet, but kicks in every once in a while.

Is there a native way to check temps on CPU, GPU, fan speeds, etc?

What's your fave 3rd party apps to do so?

    Tada, Dave

Mine did this as well which was leading me to believe I did a poor thermal paste job. I re-did it and it still continues so I think this is definitely by design because my temps are great.

Is one of the fans supposed to be pumping out a lot more air than the other? When I'm gaming, the right hand fan (while facing the screen) is working a lot more air flow than the left hand side.

The left is the GPU exhaust and the right is the CPU exhaust (I believe). So there will be some fluctuation depending upon what you are doing and which requires more cooling at the time.

Right is GPU left is CPU. Your probably not taxing your CPU as hard as your GPU.

    Great solution :)

but what would happen if you changed the default temp to say 45? Would you then get rit of the fan noise altogether in idle/office mode?

Also, what thermal compound are you using?

Using speedfan doesn't really do much for me. I also don't get why setting the desired temperature lower on the GPU would make the fans turn on less frequently.

I guess if you set it lower then it is on constantly at a low rate, which some prefer instead of having it going on/off all the time.

    Right?

Has anyone been able to solve this issue? I updated to the latest bios and I still get the same problem, every 10-20 secs the fan goes up then goes back down to silent happens 3-4 times per minute

Is there any program that can control the fans?

apparently speedfan was said to have worked, but it doesnt for me! cant access the fan control with it.

but then again, i dont really mind this "problem", since the fans in the P150HM are very easy on the ears imho :) (as opposed to my former acer timeline 3810tg, whose fans would screech like banshees when gaming! :D )

Wasn't the solution to lower the idle temp to 37*C? This keeps the fans on very low all the time (but audible), rather then bursts of audible and inaudible.

    Confirmation?

When you bring up speedfan, click configure, check the GPU box, then in the 'desired' temperature box below set it to 37.

Maybe your temps are exactly the same as his. Ambient temps play into this as well.

Try adjusting the temp more.. Not like it's gonna hurt anything.

If AMD didn't implement downclocking while idle it'll probably be worse since the temps will idle at around 50C.

I have this issue as well on a Mythlogic 1511 (8130), fortunately the fans are low enough that when there is any kind of ambient noise it's not noticeable, however when working at night when all is quiet it's a bit annoying. If anyone finds a good solution I'd love to hear it.

You know I hadn't, too used to dealing with the support from Dell, HP, etc where you are basically on your own most of the time. I used there live support to talk to Mythlogic about this and they will look into it on Monday. Apparently so far I'm the only Mythlogic customer to complain about it so far.

I guess everyone wants power, versatility at the expense of nothing. Think about the silliness of this complaint. I have one of the most powerful graphics cards available to date but can't stand that the system that is cooling it. If you'd rather have your graphics card hotter, then set the threshold to 50C and you won't hear nearly as much noise. However, the result of doing so will be a short lived piece of hardware.
