    Quick question concerning SPEAKER>PROPERTIES>ENHANCEMENTS.

What Enhancements should you have. I only have Loudness. I know with other laptops using the similar audio hardware I had quite a few more selections. I even had a bass and treble slider. Just wondering if they should be present on this system. Please exscuse my ignorance, I'm coming back to a Windows Laptop after being a mac user for quite some time.

    Thanks in advance.

Do you have THX installed? It helps to add more clarity and intensifies your sound without distorting it too much.

If not you can download it here. Software Upgrade

Thanks for the link. I do have THX installed but it seems to do very little for sound. I will try reintsalling the drivers from the site and see how it works out.

    Cheers

More importantly, is THX registered as well? Just installing it doesn't activate it. A reinstall should fix it if you're having issues though.

Yes they are installed and activated. Still only have the Loudness enhancements. TNX doesn't really seem to make a big difference. That has been my only downside of this system yet for me, are these terrible speakers. Can you replace them yourself with something better?

Don't miss the backlit keyboards, the glossy MBP screen, the warm case when ever I use it and I don't miss Mac OSX.

There's that Fn + 5 combination that helps out with sound too, you may wanna try that. [IMG]

As the picture say, Fn+5 only works on model C, which is P170HM. No Fn+5 for P150/151.

Well it seems that THX does improve the sound a bit. But it still doesn't sound anything like my macs. I just happen to have a busted 17" MBP kicking around. I might see if those speakers could be transplanted.

Anyone know where I can get good 8150 tear down pictures so I can just see what the speakers look like.

I have started a similar thread. Many people agreed that the sound system in these laptops are below average... maybe average at best.. The thing you can do is either get a DAC and hook that to an amp then to speakers/headphones. I am currently using an e9 and cmoy with my HD 555. Works like a charm. I already had the setup though. Might cost you extra. I recommend a cmoy. They are cheap and easy to build... think $20 in parts :)

That Cmoy seems pretty neat.. Just means I have more to carry. I was hoping for an internal fix.
