What are the basic differences between the two?
And what other current sager 15 inch chassis are capable of housing the 980m?

Extra parts at discount from normal config.
Batman. -
The Clevo P157SM-A (dunno which Sager this corresponds to) can also house the MXM 980M 8GB, but it comes with a socketed mobile instead of desktop Haswell CPU unlike Batman

The "S" models have a higher starting configuration like more RAM, free IC Diamond and SSD and are a lower price if you took a non S and put the same specs in. When you do spec them out the same you have identical computers, but just a lower price.

Generally the "S" versions are a better deal if you were going to get most of the options anyway. They generally have a SSD, more RAM, and several other smaller upgrades (IC Diamond, Zero dead pixel guarantee, and an upgraded network card). For the 8652 specifically, the SSD and RAM upgrades along would cost more than the prices difference. I was going to get a non-S model and upgrade the RAM myself and use my old SSD, but it didn't make much sense. I would have saved ~$20, and had an older, smaller SSD. If you are even thinking about the SSD or RAM upgrade, the S models are a good deal. If you are on a tight budget and might upgrade later, then the non-S version might more sense.
As mentioned, the "Batman" (p750ZM - NP9752) can hold a 980m.
The NP8268/NP8258 (P157SM-A and P150SM-A) can also be upgraded to hold a 980m. -

It's a really nice config with excellent value, if you can spring the extra you get a lot of bang for your buck. Once you get an SSD you will think how it was possible to survive without one.
8652 vs 8652s
