How do I check temps? It's running kinda hot.
-
Look Here
link borrowedfrom the AW thread. thanks to Oodle Bear.
i didnt know where else to find them so some of these things might only work on the AW comps. -
I use HWMonitor which you can get from www.cpuid.com.
-
HDD: 69c
GPU: 62c
Cores: 58c -
What specs do you have?
-
The HDD is kinda hot now...
-
are you using it on a nice flat surface, making sure and not to block the vents?
-
Yeah I'm pretty much running idle too...
P9500, 4gb Ram, 320gb 7200rpm HDD
it's idling at 68c, we'll see what happens when I play WoW.
I have it elavated all vents have at least 2 inches of open air. -
69C... idle or on load?
either way, thats reallie hot... hotter than many users it seems.. -
Some HDDs have shown high temps... depending on the brand/model.
I would recommend to contact your vendor to cross-ship for a different HDD (preferably a different brand) if the temps are too high (65C+). -
60 is still reseasonable but 68 idle is, no matter what people say, really hot. How can Chaz idle around 50-55 while you have like 20 degres more?
-
I don't know...
All I'm doing right now is installing WoW.
And it's just sitting at 69c. -
When did you get your laptop?
-
I am going to suggest:
all M860TU owners that have hot HDDs to pull the drive (or use HWmonitor) and see which brand (Seagate, Hitachi, Fujitsu, WD, etc..) and model it is
.... so that we can avoid those and forward the information to OEMs building the systems (like Sager).
We need to make a list of bad drives and maybe a list of good ones. -
XoticPC
Now it's at 70c -
No, I mean the HDD brand (Seagate, Hitachi, Fujitsu, WD, etc..)
-
And when did you get it? Did you preorder it or you just received it?
-
it's not the HDD, its the chipset.
-
Yes that's the point of the survey thread someone else created.
Apparently it may not be the chipset. At least one user has reported that the HDD is warmer to the touch than the chipset heatsink. -
Just got it in today, pre-order from XoticPC.
Temp in my roon is prolly around 80f, it's hot today, but that shouldn't cause the HDD to idle at 70c... -
WSXGA? Can you tell if your power adapter has a fan?
-
Woah!!! You're the first one that I know of that have a temperature in the upper 60s
-
Its 70c now.
How do I check for a fan?
Its now 71c.
I'm furious. -
-
There's definitly a problem with your laptop. Call to see if they can do something, maybe change the hard drive.
-
Whats the HDD brand and model in HWmonitor?
-
Playing wow on max settings.
HDD 72c
GPU 70c -
Is that higher than Ad@m's temps? Where the heck has he gone anyway? I want to know what he's done.
-
There's really a problem going on. You should call.
-
I think that's a new record.. reported on the forums that is.
I agree with livesoft, you should call =/ -
If you wan't help, you should listen to what others are saying because you keep telling us that your temps are rising when we really need to know something else to help you fix the problem. -
Even if we had the hard drive model, we wouldn't be able to do anything. FYI, he said it was a320GB 7200rpm. All he could do is try to diagnose to find the cause of the problem, by checking the heatsink, opening the computer, swaping hard drive and all. I agree that his laptop is "special" and it would be easier to do the "tests" on his hard drive but you can't push him to do so. All we are trying to do now is finding what is the cause of the problem, not really to help other people but to figure out if we should buy this laptop and all.
-
So... if my laptop melts at any moment, do I have some sort of warranty with XoticPC?
-
Yes you have a minimum of one year parts and labor bundled with your laptop and you also have a thirty day window to return your laptop for a full refund without questions asked.
-
or you can contact XoticPC and tell them to "cross-ship" you another HDD... and you would not have to send back in your system.
-
Yes, you are covered all the way. Maybe you should get a 3 year parts warranty (I think you can get it after). If you want to keep it that way, make a good backup of your data
-
im gonna wait til tonight when it cools down to see what the temps read.
-
Maybe you should try to leave it one night and the next morning, start it and monitor your temps and see how fast the temperature rises. If it goes slowly, its because the case have no airflow. If its fast, its the hard drive or northbridge that generates too much heat.
-
yeah, im gonna test it out tonight, cuz its like 85-90f out today, and my room is baking.
-
After a few hours of wow:
Acpi: 70c
Core 1: 65c
Core 2: 65c (cores dropped down to 59c now)
GPU: 71c
HDD: 71c -
Something is wrong with the HD. You really should back up any important data and contact Xotic right away.
You don't need to have your time wasted by a lemon drive or some sort of computer defect.
Get it taken care of! -
Is there some sort of control that I can make the fans go faster maybe that might help.
Its so god**** hot I can't even touch it for more than 2 seconds. -
There's just no airflow around the hard drive because there's no vents nor fans.
-
Room temp has dropped, 8660 is slightly cooler but still way above normal and running hot.
ACPI: 56c
Core 1: 50c
Core 2: 50c
9800 GT: 61c
HDD: 63c -

And read the last posts as well. -
-
Wow, seems good. Can't wait for the improved temps
-
I'm waiting for the new temps .
