I'm a long time surfer/lurker at Notebook review, and maybe first time poster (can't remember if I posted in the 8660 thread when I got mine). The forum helped make the choice for the 8660 for a work/gaming laptop. BTW, my hard drive has never gotten higher than 52c. :)

I'm also a frequent traveler and my old laptop bag wouldn't fit the 8660. Time for a new bag and I wanted something that I could run thru security without taking it out of the bag itself.

My choices ended up being the:

Skooba Checkthrough (I can't link it b/c too few posts)

    or the:

Tom Bihn Checkpoint flyer (no links, see above...google them if interested).

I ended up favoring the Skooba since it looked like it would be easier to get the 8660 in and out for my non-flying days. Looking at the specs on the site I wasn't sure the 8660 would fit. They mention only notebooks of 1.5cm thickness or less fiting and when I put the dimensions for the 8660 in the bag finder the checkthru didn't come up. So I emailed the company with my comp and my question and they replied in 10 min saying they had tested it on a 2cm laptop and it fit "snugly".

I had put it on preorder and it arrived today. The laptop fits very easily in the slot for it and the construction is solid. I goofed around with the "check-thru" aspect and it seems very simple (they have a video on the site with instructions). I personally prefer having a space for boarding passes on the outside of the bag (like the Tom Bihn version) but the zippered pocket they provide seems reasonable (I like to double check it have it about every 12 sec). It's very roomy with lots of intelligent pockets (and a key ring clip...must for me). The stock shoulder strap is pesty...it's directional and the bag is quite thick. I have their alt shoulder strap on order and will let ppl know how it feels if there's interest.

So, day 1 I'm happy with the Check Thru bag. I wanted 8660 owners to know that it fits very comfortably. For the frequent flyers it might be a nice choice. :) If you have the Tom Bihn I'd like to know what you thought of it...I almost got it but didn't want to have to fool with putting it in and out of the sleeve 2x/day.
