so... its still up in the air between 8660 and the 5796 still cant make up my mind i was really hoping 8660 would be better on the battery because of smaller screen. But it seems like the heat issues are beginning to be a problem.
I have the old 7620 brick of doom with the like 2 pound power block of 175F and I was hoping to get something a little smaller lighter quieter (when not gaming) and yet still have lots of power.
Ad@m if your the ad@m I remember way back in the day when i bought my 7620 you been around a long time and have seen many of laptops pass through. If you had to chose a laptop with a 2k-2500 budget for portability to class for learning; and gaming when back in the room you think you would pick this 8660 or 5796 or some thing else I dont know about.
I was looking at both the 8660 and the 5796 with the same hardware:
9500 processor
4 gig ram
9800GT
and bare (default) everything else
anyone else who wants to chime in on this please do so

Depends on what games you want to play... and what settings you're willing to run them at.

well i had the same hardware in both but I like to play games as high as possible, although screen size isnt that important to me was hoping to go with 15.4 for portability and battery life. Its also important that when not gaming that the fans be low enough it wont disrupt my college classes, as that would really suck!
I realize that when gaming these things get loud but can they be quiet when not under any stress ie word processing and web surfing -
Adam said stealth mode was very quiet.

Just wait for other people's benchmarks on the 8660, then make your decision because the heat problem might only be happening to me.
8660 vs 5796 (with a side question directed at Ad@m)
