    Hey all!

I am trying to get a good read on the comparisons between hdd make, capacity and speed as it relates to heat issues for the np8662.

Seagate 7200 500gb & 320gb and WD 7200 500gb & 320gb. Which one of these four has had the least issues with heat?

seagates from the spec sheet has lower operational temps...thus , i suggest you to get 7200.4 500gb

but if you prefer more performance and ignoring the heat , get the WD black 320gb

You can't ignore the heat on the NP8662 HDD. You just can't :)

I would suggest the seagate, just because I have a 7200.3 320GB right now and it runs really cool. I heard the 7200.4 are great hdds.

western digital 320gb 7200 runs at idle 50-51c for me. after 5 hours gaming 52-53c
dont forget to take into account your ambient room temperature as this has a large effect on all hard drives.

OK, one more day to chime in on this before I build and buy. I have decided on getting a 500gb drive. I can request a brand of drive, so, which drive should I not ask for? Sounds like the Seagate 500gb has the least heat problems in the np8662, but I want to make sure, and there are too many threads relating to hit for me search everyone, so please help!
