Why are you purchasing a new one?

If it's because of space, why not buy an external HDD?

I got an external drive but I would like some more space on my computer as well for a number of a reasons
I would like to break it down into more partitions so I can run more than 1 OS, possibly 3
and I would feel more comfortable if I had more space on the drive to do that

Ive been doing more looking and I can get a 7200.4 500GB from closer to home for a tad cheaper too.

I cant find any WD drives in that category but found 2 very similiar Seagate ones from Amazon in austria but am not sure what the real difference is, there is only like a 10 euro difference. Anyone care to advise?

It will fit and it is the same one I have installed in mine right now.

I recommend that you use a drive cloning program to save you some time.

You can use Acronis True Image or Drive Snapshot to do an image of the existing 320 GB hard disk and then write this image to the new 500GB hard drive. This will save you from having to reinstall the OS, Drivers, games, settings etc.

I would definately buy the ASG if you want your data protected... the asg version is the same hard drive with a free fall sensor meaning if you drop you laptop or something, the hard drive will lock up so it doesnt destroy data... enjoy that hd it should be perfect for what you want...

Reinstalling the OS, drivers, software and games can take hours or even a whole day or more in some cases but a good program can clone about 1GB per min and can write all of the data back while you are doing something else. It is so much simpler once you know how to use this method correctly.
