Here's my first post using it! Had to pay 10% of the original price for customs (i'm living in korea) so that sucked, but i've been using a lousy netbook for the past year...so this is so great! still can't believe it's mine, haha.

I know there was a thread on here recently but the search function won't let me search in just this Sager forum...but what are the first things i should be doing and installing to check the speeds and what not? the only thing i've installed so far is firefox.

1)GPU-Z to monitor your clock speed and temps.
2)CPUID HWmonitor to provide background temp monitoring of various components.
3)RMClock if you do decide to undervolt your CPU.
4)Nvidia System Tools for overclocking purposes.
    5)ATItool for artifact scanning.
6)Furmark for GPU stress testing, Orthos for CPU stress testing.
7)The latest Nvidia driver 186.03 for better GPU performance.
    8)Latest DX9 redistributable installer.
9)Benchmark tools like 3dmark06, vantage, crysis demo and what not.

Can't think of anything else right now. Visit http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=286151 for more info.

Considering your CPU and the fact that 3dmark06 is highly dependent on the proc, I'd say it's a given that you should be scoring higher than the guy.

You don't have to. Judging from the CPU score, I'd say his proc would be the p8600

hmm actually, my processor was also around that speed, and i have the p9700.

during the cpu test, it was going so slow...barely 1 frame per second. is that normal??

Ah, okay, that's a relief. I had the same problem with my new 8662 and 3dmark06 and I was worried that there was a problem with my processor. Good to know. Other than that, I also just received my new 8662 a few days ago, and I've been loving it. I'm planning on doing a write-up on it pretty soon and posting it here for others to read. Unbelievable system.

You score 2100 with the p9700? Well, that's strange, I was pretty sure it would score higher than that, since when I O/Ced my p8400 by 200mhz, I had a boost in CPU score, 2000->2200.
