I was told my laptop finally shipped. I ordered it over 2 weeks ago, but because of the P9600s that were out of stock, it took awhile.
I was told those cpus would be upgraded to P9700s, so I'm hoping that's what I got!
I noticed that the XoticPC website has updated the cpus on there as well, go check it out.

just before 30min, i was talking with XoticPc on live chat, i was asking for my Laptop if its will come with P9700 or it will remain same ( P9600 ) and he sayed that it will be with the new processor. And, he sayed there are some PCs waiting to be shipped from 24-48 hours, they was waiting for the new processor while the old ( P9600 ) is out from them, so i think yours with P9700.

My order in phase 2 from 29th may, and it will get the new processor :)

i ordered mine on the 23rd of May it entered into phase 2 immediately and the person in the states that is dealing with xoticpc for me said it even went into phase4 for a day but it then went back to phase 2 (i cant confirm if it went phase4 or not)
i upgraded it from the p8600 to the P8700 which isnt one of CPU's to be updated is it?.....i was going to say im getting impatient but then i saw how long akstylish has been waiting so ive decided to shut my trap! lol

The P8600 is the one that's going to be updated to the P8700 so it's basicly exactly what you did ;)

If you have the P8700 configured now you will get the P8800. If you have the P8600 in your config you will get the P8700.

    Performance of P9700 = T9600 just that the P uses 10W less.

Mine shipped out last night apparently, and I was told that the P9600 that I ordered, was upgraded to the 9700.

Now the shipping waiting game begins.

If you ordered the P8700 you can either get a $55 refund, or be upgraded to the P8800.

The problem with upgrading to the P8800 is that Intel does not have them in the US yet, and they say they don't know when they will actually get here...so there will be a longer wait for those who want the P8800.

so i can expect a lengthy wait then......i dont generally mind, especially if ive been informed of the situation........but if what you say is correct then the person whos buying it for me is being told a lie.........she recieved a email on monday stating that "your unit is set to be shipped in acouple of days, if you havent recieved any shipping information by then please contact us again" now if there are none of the P8800 cpu's in stock how will it be shipped........?
I really like to be kept in the loop...and feel that that is not the case at the moment.
anyway who knows maybe the new processors have arrived and are indeed being installed into the notebook as we speak.

No the P8800's have not arrived. I would contact your vendor directly and get the straight story. Call them, don't rely on email.

Well thats not going to be easy, my work scedule is the exact opposite from americas....and the person buying the machine on my behalf is not assertive at all....if you are sure about the new processer not arriving then ive been lied to and in my opinion thats not a good way to do business....it may be time contact xoticpc and cancel the order......
I cant understand why people cant just keep things in the open.......
....ie dear sir/ madam regarding your notebook order dated 23rd May......due to our company updating the proessers in the ordered unit you unit has been put on hold while we await the new shipment....please note your unit will have the upgraded processer from the P8700 to the P8800, we are sorry for any inconvieniance this may cause you, and will keep you updated as information regarding your notebook comes to hand.
Now wouldnt that have been nice to have recieved.........oh well......

Well, don't forget the $55 refund option if you keep the P8700 as originally ordered.

Just email Xoticpc yourself then and you will get straight answers from them. It would be much better than canceling your order and getting in back of the line somewhere else.

Please feel free to PM me with your order information and I can look into this for you. I apologize if you have not received a update yet. These processors were released not even 48 hours ago and any updates on availability would have only been known in the last 24 hours. We update all customers as soon as we can on any delays and sometimes can take up to 24 hours to complete the notification process to our customers.

Well there is that option.....but what im finding hard to understand is why it should be my responsiblity to do it.....like i said before its not me that is buying the machine someone is buying it on my behalf.....so it would mean they have to spend more time chasing after information...they also have a busy day and had just sent emails recently to find out information, this person recieved a email on monday stating that the unit is due to be shipping in acouple of days........why couldnt that reply email have contained information regarding delays, upgrades etc....
Its not good business....i have no problem waiting but only if im kept informed of why im waiting......its just common manners...and to be honest good business skill.
If i cancel i wont reorder.......the person helping me out (because im a student in india) is going on holiday in 10 days thats the window of oportunity..
Anyway not point moaning to you mate.....its not your problem.......thanks for clarifing the situation for me though.

I understand your point and sorry for any inconvenience. On Monday we did not have this information and were also not at liberty per Intel NDA to release any information on these Processors. This new series of processors were not available for release until early Tuesday AM. If we had this information or were at liberty to discuss these processors we certainly would have advised you of this on your email from Monday. We do not conceal any information to our customers.

Again please email or PM me and I would be happy to do what I can to look into this for you and see what we can do to get this worked out for you. :)

Just like to note that justin from XoticPC has been very very helpful in trying to assist me in my purchase and delay issues......after explaining the why they where unable to notify earlier (see justins reply ^^) i understand the situation and just would like to retract my statement being disapointed with XoticPC......and in saying they had lied to me.....if they dont have the information its understandable that they cant share it with the consumer.....
So i hope this clarifies my position.....thanks

Just about 10% gain. Not worth upgrading for anyone who already has a 2.53Ghz or above processor with 6MB L2 cache.
