Hi everyone, recently i have been facing some issues on booting up my 8690. Whenever my power is plugged in, I am unable to boot up my laptop. The light does shows that it is on however my harddisk cant detected and it would shut off after like 1 min. However, once I plug out the power, with just the battery I am able to boot up into windows.

After booting up, once i plug in the power again, sometimes it might just shutdown without warning.

After this happened, my wireless card could not be detected any more as well.

I would like to ask if this is a power block problem or is there a hardware that is failing.

That's strange. You might want to try this:

    1. Remove battery and unplug power cord.
    2. Press and hold the power button for 30-60 seconds (not sure how long is needed, maybe someone else could chime in?)
    3. Plug in the power with the battery still removed and see if it works.

If you have auniversal power adapter I would try using that instead. As you said, there might be a problem with the adapter.

Does the adapter still charge the battery?

Does the notebook function normally when you run on battery (wireless etc.)?

Hi oan001, thank you for your reply.

My laptop still doesnt detects the wireless card even when it just on battery, but it does charges the battery.

I might try getting a universal power adapter.

Once again, Thanks for your response!

After removing the power and battery and holding the power for 60s, i am able to boot into windows without a battery now. However, when booting up, there are a few times where it would go into the starting windows screen and then shut off without warning. After a few tries it would work and go into windows.
