I installed the new drivers for the 8700 GT form the clevo website, and now the computer is so slow... it takes 10 min for the computer to load everything after it boots up. then it takes like 3 min if i try to open a folder or any application....

It might not be the drivers, have you tried using the ones from Sager or Pro-Star?

See if there is the same result.

And what kind of specs do you have.

Vista is a huge resource hog.... requiring at least 2GB of RAM to get good performance.

As well as remember that if you are running on battery, as compared to leaving it plugged in to AC power, the speed of the system will be different to save power.

And the speed of the HDD will also affect the startup.

make sure to disable the useless resource hogs in XP to optimize performance:
    - disable System Restore
    - disable Indexing Service for all HDDs
    - DO NOT use any Norton Systemworks or McAffee Suite or AOL 9.0 crap... they do nothing but screw up the performance and gives nothing for it.

And make sure that you have Service Pack 2 and have you done the XP Multi-Core config*?

    * you only need to install the hotfix and add the registry entry
