    I was wondering,

Why does the x205 have only 256mb in the 8700 and the m570RU 512?
i'd like to see benchmarks of those next to eachother, also,
a clear and honest benchmark between the 8700 and the 7950 gtx giving framerates at 1900x1200 playing nowadays games.
    anyone?

As to the why, it would appear to be the case that Nvidia actually produced two versions of the 8700M GT. According to the Toshiba detailed spec sheets, the X205-S9349 has 256MB of discrete memory, and the capacity to share up to an additional 255MB, whereas the X205-S9359 has 512MB of discrete memory, and the capacity to share up to an additional 255MB. See:

    S9349: http://cdgenp01.csd.toshiba.com/content/product/pdf_files/datasheet/satellite_X205-S9349.pdf

    S9359: http://cdgenp01.csd.toshiba.com/content/product/pdf_files/datasheet/satellite_X205-S9359.pdf

According to the Clevo summary specs at: http://www.clevo.com.tw/products/M570RU.asp

the M570RU has "512MB of DDRIII Video RAM on board" which certainly seems to imply that the M570RU comes with the higher-end version of the 8700M GT.

On that basis, since using shared memory is slower than using the GPU discrete memory, and since the 512MB version has a total available memory of 767MB as opposed to 511MB for the 8700M GT lite version, the M570RU would probably get somewhat higher performance numbers. Whether that would make a difference in the real world ... ??

The Clevo M570RU [and the D900C] have the only MXM-IV slots for videocards in the world.

They can handle the best mobile videocards over any other notebooks.

The Toshiba X205 is using a MXM-III version of the 8700M GT with some limitations to meet the 35w cap (of the MXM-III).

While the potential of the MXM-IV has yet to be tapped yet... can handle the higher end 8700M GT specs.

In fact.... rumors show that the Clevo's (w/ MXM-IV) will have a 8700M GTX in Winter (which could be the 8800M that everyone has been talking about all this time).

From system memory. As a really, really simple example, say you have 2GB installed and available (it's a hypothetical). If the GPU needs that additional 255MB, it will (in general) get it (subject to the internal traffic rules of the chipset), leaving you with 1.745GB available for other applications, etc.

what can we expect from an 8700/8800 gtx? ( pure speculations )
how does an 7800 gtx perform these days then? just to compare the future-ability
