    SCHWEEET!!!

Now all I want for Xmas is an 8800 GPU!!

Hey, I noticed that the 8700GT is $100 cheaper than the 7950GTX. Is that right?

All the benchmarks says that the 7950GTX it is better, but I figured with the 8700GT being DX10 and new for notebooks, it'd be at least the same price or a bit more. Could they just go 'head and slap in an 8800 series in there already! This waiting game is killin' me.

That's great news! Finally another laptop to recommend for others with an 8700m GT! The Toshiba monopoly is broken. :)

    Thanks for the update Justin.

We reviewed the Toshiba Satellite X205 with the 8700M-GT and it is a very impressive card. It is not a match for the Go7950GTX but it for sure uses much less power and therefore produces less heat.

Ha ha, what timing I just conversed with a Sager rep about those two things earlier today (the 8700 and the Fingerprint Reader) on the 5790. Now if it was just lighter - around 6lbs instead of 8lbs - I'd buy one.

    Justin,

Are you going to be passing on free media center remotes with IR receivers like Sager and PowerNotebooks are doing with their NP5790 systems?
    http://www.sagernotebook.com/MCE_RMO.php

I don't see it listed on your page ;)

Interestingly enough, configuring the NP5790 seems to have lowered the base price of the laptop from about $1700 to $1600. :)

    Justin,

The 3GB DDR2 ram option is gone. Is it possible to have that config custom ordered?

Also, the WSXGA glossy option is gone. Will Sager bring that back eventually?

To ensure both quality and performance, Sager has discontinued use of 1x 2GB and 3GB options. :(

Wonder what the reason for this may be. Does this affect other Sager models as well, like the NP9260 or the NP2090? :(

Justin, any chance that Sager will offer the Core 2 Extreme mobile chips any time soon? From my research, they should be compatible with the NP5790. Thanks in advance.

There was a reply to this question on another thread. The answer was no having something to due with heat concerns. Not that one couldn't after warranty install the x7800 or x7900. How you cool it though, is up to the you.

    Thanks deuce.0

Some of the Clevo 570RU rebranders are offering it with the Core 2 Extreme mobile chips, so i was just hoping Sager would as well for a better price. As far a cooling goes, i always use a notebook cooler.

if you bought an OS, has it always been pre-installed with the 64-bit version? I was hoping mine would be pre-installed with a 32-bit OS.

dit_xi Here is my prior post about the Extreme Processors

    By default 64-Bit is installed.

The ram configurations as mentioned above have been revised on all Sager models.

    Hi Justin,

I am still a little unclear on something; is the fingerprint reader available right away, or from mid-august on like the 8700GT?

    Thank you :)

    They've taken away the single 2GB chip option (1 x 2GB) :( , but the two 2GB chip option (2 x 2GB) is available. (That doesn't seem fair/just)

It is "fair" or "just" because they've done this for everyone. Whether it is reasonable is a different question. In any case, you'll want the extra gig eventually. Go for it ;)

Did the price of RAM just go up or sum'in? It's now $250 for upgrade to 4GB of RAM with the Sager Resellers. Used to be $170. Heck, it's still a whole lot cheaper than Alien-rip-off. I'd go for it!

Just messin' around. The overall price is about the same. Oh the decisions, decisions...7950GTX vs. the slower but DX10 compatible 8700GT or wait it out until the possibility of 8800 series release. My head's getting dizzy. Maybe I should just take the plunge

One more question for you, Justin: will you be offering the 570RU with a nvidia Quadro 2500-3500 video card in the foreseeable future? I noticed the 570R has been discontinued, which was the only option for those few of us who want a high-range Quadro GPU.

If so, could you give a rough ETA?

    Thanks :)

The orange actually looks pretty cool, sort of a burnt metallic copper color. I had a chance to mess around with one this morning that belonged to a co-worker. Very nice, indeed! Now only if they can just slap in an 8800 series card and I'd be happier than a pig in slop.

A few more questions if you have time.

    1. I assume these have gigabit wired connections?
    2. If i buy 1 hd and get another later, will there still be room in the case to add
a second one? I would like to raid them later if possible
    3. Will you be offering an HD dvd drive option anytime soon/if ever?
    4. If the answer to 3 is no, will i be able to buy my own drive and put in in the
existing bay later on? Will that void my warranty.

    Thanks in advance.

Sager does not offer a 2nd HD in the NP5790
