I've been holding out on a buying a laptop for a few reasons, one of the biggest being available of 8700GTs in SLI for the D900C.
Then I took a read of this:

This information is repeated in other forms on other websites.
Go figure... thanks a ton Microsoft. The whole Vista/DirectX10 thing is total FUBAR.

its not really "out of date" because:
there arent any dx10 games yet anyway and...
the changes are so small who knows whats gonna happen with this dx10.1
Im just stickin with my single 7950gtx until mid next year then they will have faster laptop cards then anyways...and the 8700gt isnt faster than the 7950gtx, the only advantage is it has dx10. -

same thread... same article -
My notebook was 'out of date' before I bought it. That's the nature of technology. If it didn't become 'out of date' it would never increase. But just remember that 'out of date' does not equate to 'obsolete'.

DLTV talked about this already. Basically it is not that big of a deal. As the article says, some things that were optional have become standard. I do not think it is anything to be upset about.
-
Especially since most of us don't have DX10 hardware atm anyhow,
lol.

It's like buying a boat, the minute you leave the lot/dock, there's already a 20% depreciation.
-
too true lol. just be happy with what you got. and if your not, switch to desktops where you have "more" upgradebility
-
I would say it's nothing like buying a new boat.

I've been told DX 10.1 changes almost nothing and brings barely anything new to the table. Furthermore, hardware manufacturers are up in arms over MS being so stupid about this. Finally, most developers don't even seem to be very interested in the new update. And as everyone else says, we haven't even seen any real DX 10 games of quality yet, let alone 10.1. So don't freak out!

it's like buying a rowing boat, a day before you can buy a sailing boat
