Anyone with some market knowledge? That can give me realistic info, would a decrease in price justify purchasing a 8700 while the 88's are available? Would the 7950's discontinue? and who sells the NP5791 with the white trimming, and do they deliver to Canada?

I hope most resellers don't discontinue their 79's because if I could save money now, and upgrade later (8900 Perhaps?), then that would be awesome. No one is playing Crysis on DX.10... What DX.10 projects have even been announced?

Basically, I want is to play COH at max (1600 x 1200), COD4 Max (1280) and Crysis at Mid (1280), Can a 8600 do that?

Well for one thing, you probably won't see the 7950GTX for long once the 8800GTX comes out and the 8700gt will be included in the starting config, just like it now, so the only thing that'll cost will be the upgrade from 8700gt to 8800gtx.

Well, I might be able to find one from a lesser known company that needs to clear their stock (or take a loss?). Do they order on purchase config?

All just speculation of course, but there are going to be plenty of people chomping at the bit to get their hands on the first batch of 8800m's, which means they'll be able to charge a premium for them. That will mean a pretty big gap between them and the currently available models, which in turn means no real reason to discount them more than the "discount" compared to the 8800m. So probably be a while before the 8800m means lower prices on other models and also be a while before vendors feel like they have to unload any stock that isn't moving.

Don't want anything used with my first laptop. :)

The 7950 Is still a great choice for laptop gamers and I would break something if re-modelers discontinued it when I'm ready to buy.

Yeah, soon as I can convince the vice grips of my finances, I'll be trying to offload 2 7950's too. On the Crysis Demo, all on high except volumetric/particles... they pulled 40+ fps. Vicious little buggers, and I dont even know if the Demo was Sli-able.

I don't know if 8600 could do that, maybe in SLI but I would look for benchmarks first. The 8700's in SLI can do that Crysis might push it though from what I am hearing unfortunately I can't get my hands it or I would tell you for sure.

8700 SLI would be great but I'm on a $2000 budget.

    Which means:
    M570RU
    1900 x Super Glossy
    Core 2 Duo - 2.2 GHZ
    2 GB RAM
    100 GB 7200 RPM
    Vista
    7950 GTX

Can't afford it yet, but if it's discontinued and my only option is an 8700 for the same price... I'm going 15.4" 8600 for a while (About $1500)...

    $2100 Laptop (8700) - $1500 Laptop (8600) = $600 Savings, Console Gaming, 8900 In the coming years.

I just can't see myself purchasing a card with 32 Stream Processor, 128-bit card for 2 Grand. When your dropping that kind of cash, you better get the best price/performance machine out there.

Dude, get on the bandwagon and pre-order a 5790 with the 8800.
At least, on your budget, you might be able to pull it off if you're lucky, maybe with a lower end CPU and RAM setup.
