I've a M570RU and have been using 167.43 stock driver. I've tried almost every new driver around but in every case my computer freezed when entering the game after installing them.. I'm sure I installed the correct ones, and clear the old ones carefully.

So now the question is why can't I use new drivers but only 167.43 ?!?!?!

    btw my OS is Xp.

PS: Clearly I'm new here, and I see that this has been discussed. But I couldn't find a clear answer therefore I'm asking again.

Hi Mr.B and welcome to NBR

what was you using to clean out the drivers after you had deleted them.
i recommend Driver Cleaner Pro which is a freeware. this makes sure that every trace of the driver is removed.
then follow the step by step guide below:

Download the latest drivers for your operating system XP/32/64bit from Nvidia website. i recommend the latest 186.03

Extract/ copy the files to a temporary directory such as c:\temp

Go to the control panel > program and features > scroll down the list and find NVIDIA > then select NVIDIA and click uninstall. It will ask if you want to restart the system.. click yes

Press F8 on startup and go into windows in safe mode.

Run driver cleaner and select NVIDIA drivers.. then clean.

Go to the control panel > system> device manager > graphics card. Right click on any present and click uninstall

Restart the system and go into windows normally. Install the NVIDIA drivers listed above which you put into a temporary folder

Restart the system.. and fingers crossed all should be well!

if this is the way you do it already then i would contact your OEM who supplied your computer for their advice.

    no probs guys,hope it helps.

when it comes to the bios i know diddly squat (slang for havnt got a clue) so cant help you out on that one.
i found the 186.03 to be the most stable so far. your temperatures may be a couple of degrees higher to start with for the first day but they do settle down.

any problems just post back and we will try to help you out.
    EDIT:
    Mr.B
ive just remembered that i had to help someone else out on the kobalt forum with xp.
it looks like Nvidia are discontinuing updated drivers for xp and the latest ones are 185.51 (i think) i will check this out for you. im at work and cant use tabs to open 2 screens at once so will post back soon.

    EDIT EDIT:
yup, 185.85 is the latest drivers for xp here http://www.nvidia.com/object/geforce_notebook_winxp_185.85_whql.html
