I seem to be having an issue with my np9262 and my video. I have the heat issue under control but it seems now I am gettign a horrible throttling issue.
Before I woudl get a 275/300 clock rate/mem rate whiel jsust doign desktop stuff, that was fine, and once I loaded up a game (windowed or full screen) it woudl go to the 500/799 and sit there.
Recently though it seems like it likes to drop to 200/100 in desktop (liek now as I type) the when I load a gam eit hitt he 500/799 but then throttles back tot hte 275/300 or thereabouts while I am playing.
I have a cooler under tha laptop, use my Fn+1 to keep the fans goign when playign etc.
Now I have tried the stock drivers, the new ones from Sager, ones form Laptop2Go etc and they all do the same thing. Shoudl I just bust out this Vista as the control factor you lose and the rather shoddy drivers for Vista are frustrating the hell out of me. This didnt do this when I first got the machine but recently it is. Have I missed something or whats the deal.

No harm in trying, have you set your vista power profile to max performance? a lot of laptops are shipped with the "balanced" or "powersaver" option .(where the AC icon is on the taskbar)
-
Yup, that was one of the first things I thought of and tried. It feels liek its alwasy in low power mode though, and I find it very bothersome to have the nvmonitor upa nd see the game drop to a half clock speed oin the middle of gaming. I am goign to try and reinstall the OS from scratch (again) and see if that helps. I prefer to not use any 'fix type' software to force it to do somethign it shoudl be doing already though.

do you user powermizer? if so, check if that`s set for performance.
If not, 8800M GTX users reported 167.43 as being the best driver so far.
It`s definitely software related, either the driver or a program that stops your gpu from going high, since you said heat was not an issue. -
I think powermizer is automatically running, at least thats what I think is happening. I set my battery icon in the taskbar to HIgh Performance but its doesnt do anythign at all. If I knew a way in Vista to shut it off that woudl be great as I only use the machine from a plugged in state. I will try the .43 drivers I think thats what came with my laptop but will doubel check, coudl have swore it was .44 though.
