Thought you ment I had a vid on youtube or something showing I used higher volts to get higher OC =P

I would never Flash my bios just incase for some reason Dell had to come and replaced my laptop for X reason and find out I've changed the bios..Bye bye warranty :(

The new version of nibitor 4.0 is out and add native support (thx to me) to my 8800M GTX (sub vendor 1558 sub system 0573).
I overvolted and problem with 174.74 disappears but temp increase a lot. about 70° after crysis.
What are your ID's? the xps 1730 isn't based on a clevo D900?

to have max fans what do you do? I think it's automatically regulated by the motherboard and in the bios is set already to 100%

Thanks a lot for the bios flash info. Via nvtune the best I could do while testing with Crysis and 3DMark was 540 1250 950

With the 1.05v in Extra I am ultra stable at 600 1400 950. I will leave it here for the moment for a lot of more testing. Went to just over 11300 in 3D mark now with the 169.04 drivers (were the only ones that would let me overclock in software) and 20.39 in Crysis 1900x1200 HIGH.

Now I will try some 174 series drivers and hopefully reach 11500 in 3DMark and get over 21fps in Crysis 1900x1200 HIGH.

Actually Veggie those clocks you have check those in ATI tool. You´ll have massive artifacting there even though it is artifact free in games. The highest I can go that is artifact free in ATI tool is 625/1550/949. I can then go higher on the mem if I lower the core. But with these clocks it is totally artifact free. Funny thing is if I raise the mem just 1MHz to 950 it artifacts in ATI tool.

Though I ran games with 645/1600/950 without any problems, but I do want it to be artifact free in ATI tool too since ATI tool detects problems games usually don´t show but they are there. In our case it is not temp problems it is more a voltage problem, we need higher voltage to have it artifact free in ATI tool at higher Core clock along with 950 Memory. If I run the core with 600 I can up the memory even more. But do check ATI tool and tell me if you are artifact free at those clocks.

I am just 0.62 frames from 21! I am using an X9000 overclocked to 3.2GHz, maybe that's why. I have all processes running (firewall, antivirus, spyware detector, bluetooth and maybe another 15-20!) at the moment.

Let me find the fastest driver first with all processes running and then I will also shut down as many as possible and give you the final 3DMark and Crysis WUXGA benches.

I am talking about the average FPS in the actual Crysis benchmark not not while walking, running, crawling or sleeping on the carpet while having ice-cream with soda ... That wouldn't be a benchmark then would it ???

Thing is that average framerate will get lower once you get to the other levels, thus making it unplayable at that res unless you tweak the game.

    You got it dude.
Well, I don`t think 20 is that far fetched however...If SLI 8800M GTX can give 30-35fps at all high, WUXGA, a single card should get some 50-70% less, so about 20-22fps is achievable.I mean, SLI only goes up to a 70% -80% increase anyway.

I know that, I am just benchmarking and trying to see the improvement from drivers/overclocking. From the day I started testing things the benchmark went up from 17.32 to 21.83. That's what I wanted to see, never said I will play the game at that resolution/settings.

It´s a nice average fps micloi for sure and I agree with eleron above that SLI in Crysis maybe gives around 70-80% in performance increase.

Got 11280 at 3DMARK with 174.33 (from Clevo). I am happy for the moment and stopping here. Could maybe get a bit more from the card but not risking another flash now!
The 174.74 gave me a bit more at 3DMark (just over 11300) but messed up my external monitor quality for some reason so I will settle for 174.33 as they give me the same framerates at Crysis (Just short of 22fps) at 1900x1200 HIGH.

I will play Crysis with all at High except Shadows, Shaders and Postprocessing which I will have at Medium. That should give me over 30FPS at the benchmark which should correlate to quite ok in-game FPS. In the later stages I will drop Textures as well at Medium if I have to.

If it's for mine, do you have a link please?

Sorry, from the title I thought that the thread was for 8800m bios and overclocking. Did not realise that it was only for a specific model.

Did some more testing (see sig) and the best scores I got were at 3.1GHz rather than 3.2GHz BUT using a higher FSB. So 15x206.7 (3.1GHz) is faster then 16x200 (3.2GHz) both in Crysis and 3Dmark and my CPU temps are also lower.

I see that your 3DMark score went up to 12396. congratulations! How did you manage that? :)

I dumped the bios of my cards on my M1730 and the voltages are as follows:

    Extra - 1.00V
    3d - .85V
    Thrl - .85V
    2d - .85V

You need to take the Extra to 1.05V.
This allowed me to go from 540 core to 600 stable (and I think it could even go up a bit more but did not want to reflash in order to try. Some people went to 650).
