Just starting this thread as we are bound to get alot of information once these cards are released (8800m). Please feel free to post benchmarks on these new cards (when released ;)), resellers selling them, reviews or any information regarding these cards. Hopefully these will better than the 8700 poor performance and hopefully this time 256 bits...

here is a link on their inpending release :

These links are for the regular 8800, we ll have to wait for the 8800 m (laptop) version. Seems its going to be downgraded compared to the desktop 8800. Will it become to new king and replace the 7950... or just another push over like 8700...time will tell.

One thing also that Gophn has already pointed out is that the numbering sequence, NB8E G80, might be the 8700M-GTX chip which is supposed to be out in Winter, according to an email from Eurocom.

Drivers have shown that the 8700M-GT was using the NB8E name already. Just FYI. I personally think they got the naming screwed up. Not to say there will never be an 8800, just not by winter/Christmas.

It is false alarm IMHO. There is s mixup with names.

Anyway whatever is coming it will come within 8900M + range (my own speculation). Just becouse the 9000 series are coming out next year for desktops and most probably NVIDIA will not have time to launch two series 8800M and 8900M in a roll for nootebooks.

From the link posted about the 8800 :

''The laptop version of the NVIDIA’s GeForce 8800 video card will be launched soon, according to Fudzilla. Designed for use in gaming notebooks, the GeForce 8800M will be offered in Dell’s upcoming XPS (M1730) 17-inch laptop reportedly, which will also feature the Intel Core 2 Extreme''

    and the interesting part :

''The GeForce 8800M GPUs for laptops are expected to arrive with decreased performance when compared to the GeForce 8800 for desktops, in order to fit notebook-specific temperature and power consumption requirements.''

Wondering how much decreased it will be compared to the real thing...

seems its marketed as the equivalent to the 8800...g80 chip no idea, but it seems better then the 8700 atleast heck can t go lower ;p Hopefully they are not playing games with names... its been a while anyway the 7950 has reigh as champion and there is no real dx 10 replacement for laptops...so hopefully this one is the one to replace my single 7950 gtx with a nice sli 8800 :p

Woots for laptops that > desktops.
Anyway, eager as I was for these to come out before I got my laptop, now that I have it, I won't likely be upgrading until the 9xxx series, unfortunately. Thats if this is still a viable shell and has viable MXM tech.
