Hi,
I would like to ask you guys if anyone managed to up the memory clock? So the card does not hang up exactly after starting some games or 3d application.(clevo p170em, win7 x64)
regards!

Hi @kothletino.
You may need to use an XMP memory profile to tune the memory clocks. Are you sure it's memory related?

7970m/8970m and the rebrandeon series was not an overclocker champion like desktop counterpart, expect 5/10% oc max
edit:
IIRC another thing was the vbios lock, maybe you need to edit yours by vbe editor to prevent hardlock of system when oc, flashing directly desired clocks and voltagesLast edited: Jun 19, 2017 -
Btw Ram is a already @1866 from 1600.
So if you compare it with stock 850/1200/1.0v it is much more then 10% OC.
It is possible for me to change core clock, votlage and some other things including overdriver(max core/max memory/max tdp limit) but if i change the memory clock for anything higher than 1250MHz i get freeze on screen just when i put card under load(above 1300MHz) or drop in performance to the level of 300/100 core/mem(under 1300MHz).
7970m got Hynix memory and 8970m has Samsung.
All attempts were made by flash-ing the modified vbios and not by "software way".
Unfortunately, I am not able to overclock the graphics card memory in a way that will not negatively affect its performance.
On the 3dmark website, I have seen the results of 8970m. Descriptions of some of them shown that the card has passed tests with overclocked memory. It has been done on AW machines and clevo p1xxSM.
My question is "how".
Any advice appreciated. -

Sounds like you lost the silicon lottery on GDDR5 on the card.

Can you write more about the " silicon lottery"?
