Howdy,
I've been enjoying my 9150 for a few weeks and love it. I just picked up a 23" Samsung Led Monitor at 1920x1080. Question is, can the GTX 675 handle gaming with an external monitor hooked to it? The resolutions are the same, I'm just worried about FPS while its driving the laptop screen as well as the external Samsung. Thanks!

One thing you could also do is if you goto your power settings you can set it so that when you close your notebook it does nothing so that the screen isn't powered. -
Thanks for the response. I do have it setup to do nothing when closing the lid. How do you set it up to turn off the laptop screen, and is there any advantage performance wise turning off the laptop screen? One more question, HDMI or DVI? The Samsung monitor has both, which one is preferred by you folks?

It should raise your temps by about 2-3C, but that's normal. And I would recommend going for HDMI
Both audio and video.

And the screen should automatically turn off when you close your lid. -
If you're mirroring your display it won't hurt FPS, but if you're extending your desktop to game on 2 monitors at once it will halve your FPS and make your temps go up.

Ok, understand! Thanks! I guess I should mirror it then? This LED screen looks better than my upgraded 95% glossy screen! Wow!

Calibrated? Can I do this myself? The Samsung monitor I bought is the s23a700d. If my 95% upgraded screen can look better than the Samsung, I'm all for it!

Ah, you should have said it was a 3D panel. This changes thingsThe reason it looks better might be the 120Hz refresh rate. However, The DVI port on the P150EM is only single link. If you want to go 3D, you'll need a DP-Dual link DVI adapter. When you say "looks better", does it look smoother, more detailed, sharper, easier on the eyes, more vibrant, or what?

The FPS will only drop is your decide to go higher in the gaming resolution (which you can't since the screen only supports 1920x1080 anyways)
so no problems there.

Anyhow the point is yes you need Dual link DVI, and yes you can calibrate the monitor yourself by playing around with the options, but to be honest you shouldn't have to.
