I know that Sager has said the 9260 will not handle the Q6600, but I wonder: The 7950 Go GTX uses 45 Watts of power, so a 9260 with only one GTX will be using 45 watts less power than the SLI 9260. Wouldn't it be possible, then, to put in the Q6600 which is only 30 watts more than the X6800, still under the 45 watt stress placed by an additional 7950?

    Thanks in advance.

Wu, isn't it interesting that the natural reaction to the world's most powerful Laptop is to want to make it even faster? Or better?

I think that's the reason we all looked at this one to be honest. It had the most potential.

its also noted that quadcores are likely to be used in this system VERY soon anyway... no?

it might be very soon..however...it might not be.

until clevo says it will work, i wont try it myself. i think they said they are trying a few different things to get it to work with the same chassis/mobo...im sure it will be much easier with a redesign to deal with the extra heat, etc...

I would just like to know if the bios will handle it and what bios version. I would try it out if I knew it would work. Hopefully someone with a quad from Eurocom or Extreme or Pioneer will drop by the forums and tell us.

I thought it was a given that it could take the core2quad CPUs (and that it would then proceed to melt). Is the first part of my previous statement false?

with companies putting in the 95w quad cores and covering it in warranty, they must have confidence it works... or else they'd lose ALOT of money. even 300 dollar warranties wouldnt cover another processor they'd have to buy if their quadcore product fails... not including the possible motherboard damage if its rele bad.
I rele see quad cores passing the tests within the next few months, in the D900 of course. I dont think any major altering would have to be done. just IMO
