Here is a recent update from Sager on the 9260 :D

We wanted to share with you a few exciting developments here at Sager.

Earlier this week we received our new flagship unit, the NP9260. We have been running it through internal testing, and it has been passing with flying colors. We anticipate it will be shipping earlier next week.

We have some exciting news on the NP9260 front. We will be upgrading the Wi-Fi card for all pre-orders from the Intel 3945ABG to the Intel 4965AGN 802.11n card. Also, for pre-orders with 1024/2048MB orders will be upgraded from DDR2-667 to DDR2-800 memory. This upgrade is not available for 4GB orders as the DDR2-800 memory is not yet available in a 2 GB module.

We hope you are as excited as we are about the launch of this revolutionary new gaming laptop.

That is awesome news!! I take it these upgrades are at no cost to the pre-order customers? If that's the case, do you know yet if future orders will have the upgraded parts without an upcharge?

That's great news Justin, thanks for giving us this info. The performance of this machine should be incredible, we'll be waiting for benchmarks. ;) I'm especially interested to hear how it handles heat.

    Awesome :).

Next question, is it possible that this will support the 1333FSB Conroes due in July?

Is the 5760 still looking at a mid-June shutdown date?

I'd say if the Clevo engineers haven't considered it, they would not be working for Clevo...

Ehh, just kind of stating the obvious ;). I hope Clevo is working on that, as I would love to put an E6X50 into the one of these I hope to buy, as Intel's projected pricing is EXTREMELY competitive. (3GHz E6850 for $266!)

Two more questions about this machine:
With DDR2-800, is the maximum capacity 2GB, or is that figure based off of the current density of 200 pin 800MHz modules?

Also, can a Robson chip be added to this machine in an empty mini-PCIe slot, and offer full functionality?

Well, being local to sager, and have a NP9260 pre-order pending, I just couldn't resist the urge driving by sager and beg them to let me check out the system. After reading this thread.

Not only did they show me the unit they let me play with it for a short while,
The new case with two tone glossy finish it looked GREAT! And it felt solid!

System ran fast and cool, it was a 17” WUXGA, E6700, 2x 7950 SLI, 1GB DDR2-800, 3x 160GB 7200RPM RAID 5, windows XP. (My order is with 2GB of memory)

There wasn’t any program installed for me to play with, but it had the 802.11n Wi-Fi connected at 300mps, so I browsed right to 3dmark.com to download 3dmark06

Once installed I ran the default benchmark test it scored 8934.

I can’t wait to pick my baby up next week!.

The only reason you don't see 4GB at 800MHz available is that Sager has not found any stable 2,048MB modules yet.

Since this is not a Crestline/Santa Rosa based laptop, Robson is not available with the Conroe setup.

Wow 8934??!?! Was the default res 1280X1024?? That would put the monster right up there with the GeForce 7950 GX2 SLI (3dmark 06 score of 8900), which seems highly improbable.

Moreover, the sager NP5960's GeForce go 7950GTX typically scores around 6500 in 3dmark 06. However, we all know that the cpu is the bottleneck.

I just cant fathom that the E6700 cpu is so powerful that you would gain 2400 pts just like that...

Incredible...8934... that's amazing... just imagine the wonders of the 8700m SLI config in that beast...

    Ahh, makes perfect sense.

Hmm, what to ask next? This has no fingerprint reader, right?

Tenchi, man, that was an awesome story! Great news for us all!

While it doesn't have robson, you can still gain much of the benefit if you were to buy some of those new drives that have like 256mb onboard memory...

Exactly what do you guys mean by shut down date? Is it the date of when the 5760 will no longer be available and only the 5760RU will be selling?

If so, do you expect it to be some overlap where both are available? I wonder when that magic date will be that the RU is finally unleashed.

I didn't know anything about this free upgrade. Its very good to know they reward customers that pre-order their products.

Also, all this talking about the 9260 makes me want it FASTERRRR. It should be here withing the next 2 weeks, i can't wait! Its like 10X faster then the laptop i have now.
