Hey guys, been a while since i've posted, med school stuff and whatnot.

So, I still have this beast from two years ago, goin strong. This morning when I woke up, I turned it on. Right after the bios screen, where it counts all your ram, I hear a click and the thing just shuts off. No restart or anything, just shuts down. I hit the power button again and it works fine. Never happened before, and it hasn't happened again yet, But if my laptop shuts down, I am SCREWED lol. Maybe theres a lose power wire to the mobo or something? Because I can't imagine why a total hard shutdown would occur like that.

Plug connection loose or power supply issue, memory card not well seated, Hard Drive very early initial stage of failure. Problem with electronics is all the things that can go wrong, sometimes look the same.... As the power supply connections do get used, and can be subject to poor connection at times, I'd look there first. Check your memory seating the next time you open up for cleaning. Hopefully you do clean it from time to time, at high fan speed, the Laptop filters allot of air...

Looked to your signature; 1) we joined same month and year, 2) I started with 7950s and E6700 - but now have 8800s and Q9650, 3) if you find 9800s for a good price, please post for the rest of us. Thanks.

Well, I thought if the hard drive was about to fail, I don't think the whole computer would just shut down hard. Cause the motherboard and stuff would still be operational. I'll check Ram... and clean it soon.

as far as my signature... I never go around to upgrading this thing due to school work... I got so busy, so fast in the last two years of college, its rough. I have the 1st gen, so i can't even put 8800s or a Qprocessor in here even if i wanted.
