    I have the Sager 9261

    Specs are this

    17' wsxga
    4 g ram
    quad core 2.4
    dual 7950 sli
    realek high def audio

now I have bought a cable that goes from DVI to hdmi adn this works great for me.... my next step was audio...

now on the front there is a SPDIF OUT port as well as the standard head phone. they seem to take the same interface. however isn't the spdif one higher quality?

all the devices I would want to hook this up to require coax or optical...

in the mixer settings there is DTS and 5.1 but i cant for the life of me find a cable that goes from the SPDIF port to coax or optical.

    is there such a thing?
what is the quality? will i get surround?
where in Canada can I find teh cable!!?
if no to the above questions, what the hell is the point of this output!!?

    thanks so much,

    sorry.

i did search but i guess im a newb.....

well first the main thing i want to connect it to is this.

    http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?Sku=T26-1090

it has coax and optical input.

it has 4 speakers in each ear..... will that work for that?

    and thanks for the reply!

also is there anywhere in Canada? Ontario? to get this cable... that site is in the states, I donno if they ship to Canada but their site is currently down for purchasing....

yup, thats SPDIF.... The "digital coax" in the pic.

you do not have to get the cable, just get the cheap "3.5mm to RCA adapter" and use any RCA cable to connect it to the "digital coax".

yes it will be digital. its the signal... not the cable in this situation.

    Its the same as optical.
