Hi all...in the middle of finalising my purchase of the 9261 but still a lil doubtful about which gpu...i've seen some owners of the 9261 post 3dmark scores recently which seem to be damn good...but as i've heard those can be deceptive, so if any of you could post some gaming benchmarks it would be really appreciated..thanks a lot.

I need to run out for a bit but let me know what game and I will be happy to help out if I can.
-
I tested the demo of Need For Speed ProStreet @ 1900x1200, all settings maxed, but I disabled AA, and got nothing but a smooth frame rate.
From what I've read, the demo has NO SLI support, so I couldn't tell you about that, but as soon as the final ver comes out, I'll test it with max AA.
Oh, and I rem my PCMark2006 score being around 9200. But after reading about people overclocking & getting over 10,000, i'm a little envious, but not, since I don't overclock anything, to preserve the already HOT technology for as long as possible. -
-
There's noticeable stuttering every few seconds thanks to the half-assed SLI support in the demo, which will supposedly be fixed with a patch after release. Expect better performance than this in the actual game.
I play Bioshock at 1440x900 with all settings on high (DX9) and my framerate never drops below 30. It's certainly playable at the native resolution, though.
I will never touch Oblivion ever again, so someone else will have to take care of that one -
chaos z, I run through the sewers in Oblivion and went outside and straight across last night. In side I stayed at 60fps. In a couple of places it dropped 40 and bounced right back up. Outside it stayed around 40-45fps a few smll drops but I think areas were loading. For my setting I just hit the Ultra high and then set it to 1920x1200. The fps was using fraps.
I have played BioShock but I didn't have fraps loaded at the time. I will say that my impression was that it played smooth, but I will run back through it again with fraps just to see.
I have also played the first 3 missions of World in Conflict and it played well also. Its benchmark program stated something like 28-32fps but it felt ok when I was playing so I am not sure about the actual. I will post some more later after some play time. -
Ok after playing bioshock and almost forgetting I needed to post some results. I decided I needed to drop the resolution 1680x1050 to play really comfortable all the time. At this I get 30-40fps with fraps. This is with everything turned on except forced lighting. I am not sure what that is but the game looks awesome! I was able to play it at 1920x1200 but a couple of areas seemed to lag a lot. I am not sure the 7950 could do any better or not truthfully. I would be curious to hear though. Still I am very happy with the 8700M it does a wouderful job and the graphics are outstanding.

Are u oced at all or stock?
u have the same machine im waiting for
hoping stock -
Actually I was running it at stock. I didn't really see a need to change anything. I just did the OC to see how far I could push it and there is a fair amount to push when I want to later.
-
I consistantly get 60 FPS in oblivion. The lowest I've seen it drop is 35 FPS in some outdoor areas. Those numbers are with stock clocks and no "max fans". My temps maxed at 70C.
I run at 1920x1200 with max settings including HDR.
60 FPS is the refresh rate of my display so the theoretical render rate is higher. I like to leave VSync on because I can't stand tearing -- and you can't see the frames higher than 60 (the pixels don't physically change any faster than the refresh rate).
Oblivion runs so fast I have to slow down the rate at which my character moves... it's starting to give me headaches.
EDIT: fixed typo -
I do agree Oblivion is outragous on my machine as well. I have played it on several different computers/laptops and this is the best I have seen it run.
-
i am looking at getting a 9261 but probably with 7950's.
cuz I get those benchmarks kl5167, with my rig in my sig, for real.
8700's have a restricted memory bus. -
The restricted memory bus is not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. For a couple reasons:
1. The memory clock on the 8700 is running much faster than the 7950
2. Two 8700's in SLI relieve the bandwidth restriction
3. Anti-aliasing is not required on the sweet 1920x1200 screen
I don't believe the memory bandwidth is the performance restriction with 8700's in SLI. Why? Becase I get the most improvement in 3DMark06 when I bump the CPU clock. After 900MHz the memory clock doesn't do as much.
I'm completely satisfied with the sweetness of the 8700's in SLI.
I'm glad I didn't puss away from them based upon a lot of opinions from people who didn't even own one (let alone two). -
Let him order the 7950's and we can then compare.. I really don't see why everybody makes a big fuss about the 7950... Or the upcoming 8800..
You don't even know what is going to go on with the 8800... and your waiting.... I think it will be funny if it is not supported in the 9261..
I am getting the 8700's... Why not... I rather have something that is Dir10 compatiable..... It is the future of gaming...
But get your 7950 and stick your nose up in the air.. Because it really is not going to make a difference.. It is going suck for the new Dir10 games though...

U have to take the 7950's now.
xtopicpc is backordered on the 8700's and dont know when they are getting them in
they said should have gottin them in yesterday but now they are thinking "MAYBE in 9 or 10 days from now -
It does really depend on the game......
I personally like extra detail...
Joe -
Where did you hear that from?
Joe -
I think the DX10 shader effects are simply awesome. There's a reason that DX10 is not backwards compatible... the DX9 hardware doesn't have the horsepower to handle it. The shader capabilities of the 8700 are 3x that of the 7950.
It makes the outdoors really look like the outdoors. -
If you are getting those benchmarks why get a new rig? As for the 7950 it is dying quickly. Why not save some money get the newest and still be happy. Why don't you post some screen shots? I would like to see that as well. Besides the 8700 run the DX10 stuff.

VVVVVVVVVVVVVVV -
Good to hear on the update. I would have waited for 8800's myself but I had already waited to get the quad core and only had a small window when I was state side to get this. I will probably upgrade to 8800's around march or so just because I can. But for now I am happy with what I have.

thats great news.
i too am straped for time that is why i am not waiting for the 8800's
they are being released in 2 business days. i could have waited easily if i didnt need it now.
i am going to use the 8700's till about the same time. justin said they would not be in the lappys shipping till about the end of jan to feb so as long as it is, "ALL THAT" (the new king.) then i will upgrade also. lol or wait till march,10th. for the 8900's to come out, lol. did i say that out loud, lol. JUST kidding everyone it is a joke i am not starting a RUMOR! -
Truth is I am not in a hurry to upgrade right now. I wasn't sure about the 8700 but it has convinced me that is a good card. If at that time I am unhappy or I just have the time/desire to upgrade I will.

That's my thoughts also i wouldn't upgrade till i need to
