For those with the higher resolution screen, has anyone watched HD-DVD or Blu-Ray videos on it? If so, how was the image quality, etc?

I watch 1080p movies on my notebook... looks awesome. :)

I borrowed my friend's external USB HD-DVD drive... used the new PowerDVD (which plays all HD formats)

I'll get a Blu-ray and/or HD-DVD drive for the notebook when the prices look better.. because the cost outweighs the usefulness at the moment.

Yeah, I agree with you about the cost.

But ebay has some pretty good prices on notebook Blu Ray.

I would recommend to get this for those that want both the ability to play HD-DVD and Blu-ray discs.

    1) LG Electronics GGC-H20L LightScribe Blu-ray/HD DVD Combo Drive (Black)
    $280-300
    [IMG]

    2) 5.25" Enclosure: GALAXY 5202auas external USB2.0+ E-SATA 5.25-in SATA enclosure
    $30-50

There ya go, no need to worry about the format war. :D

Can you post an external Blu Ray Burner with the enclosure.

Also, know I am kind of a newb for asking this, but what are enclosures really used for.

It makes you capable of conecting a 5,25 drive (a desktop drive) to a usb port or in this case also a eSata port, so as you are able to connect it to a Notebook.

So the galaxy drive with the USB 2.0 connection with a 5.25" Blu Ray Burner will work with a notebook.

Gophn, thanks for the info the dual drives. I may have to get one shortly after I buy my 9261(or 9262 if I wait long enough). Is there an external combo drive?

you can make your own external combo drive.

    You need:
    - the Blu-ray / HD-DVD combo drive
    - and a 5.25" enclosure (that supports SATA)

    thats it. :)

So I have this friend ;) who downloads movies in HD, and hes got the same setup as me, but the movies wont play, they are jumpy and use a lot of CPU power, even though hes got an 8700 with "Purevideo HD" that is supposed to do all the work according to nvidias website.

    Sager 5791: WUXGA, 8700m, 4g ram, 7200rpm hard drive, 7500 CPU.

    Why?

It should play fine... it depends on the media player being used as well.
    - make sure that its set to use Hardware Acceleration (like DirectShow option).

As for the videocard, it should be fine, make sure that the system is at max performance (for the videocard as well... disable PowerMizer)

If the system is being throttled down for power saving, then that can explain the stuttering.
