    I picked up my 9262 from the UPS office just after 8:00 AM today.

    Basically what I expected and just like when I got my 8800 Sager a few years back. The packing was first rate and everything was fine.

    The case was nicer than before. It is a big heavy laptop. Windows XP booted up kinda slow, but I finished the first time junk quickly.

    The screen is great. No problem getting on a Linksys wireless network, just needed to type in the password. I downloaded Firefox right away.

    Next I rebooted, went into the sysconfig and changed the boot order. Again it took a little longer than I expected booting from a Ubuntu live dvd, but after a few allocation errors the desk top came up. Again no problem getting on the linksys wireless network.

    The BIOS message said something about only booting from HD or DVD, but the config seem to allow booting from USB and key stuff. Still need to test that out. I really like to boot from a linux live CD and have a storage area on a key.

    I have a ton of stuff to install, including Sandra, plus I am going to my brothers house for the weekend for a visit so it may be awhile before I can post any benchmarks or other stuff.

    All in all this was what I was expecting and I am a happy camper. :D

    I was reading that FireFox is having issues now. It takes 400mb of memory now because of some security issue they fixed. I'd stick with IE.

    @roboMonkey:

    I would be in serious trouble if FireFox was using 400 MB of RAM...my work computer only has 512 total :D. FireFox still only uses 60 - 100 MB of memory on my system. Bring on FireFox 3 and its reduced memory usage!

    @ragebot:
    Cheers on getting the system in. I've started telling my customers to whitelist PowerNotebooks so we don't have another spam-chunked shipping confirmation :)

    Incidentally, you mentioned booting from a USB key, which Sager's systems generally allow, but if you're booting from a CD/DVD, you should still be able use a USB key as storage, whether you can boot from the key or not...don't most LiveDVDs auto-mount devices like that?

    I started doing a little stuff with Sandra. As I posted in a different thread the out of the box refresh rate was 60Hz; but at least one guy said he had a 59Hz with a 5762.

    I have 4 gig (2X 2gig chips) memory and Sandra is reporting 3 gigs under XP; as I would expect.

    The two 160 gig HDs show up as a single 320 drive under the RAID 0 config.

    The 8800 shows up as NVIDIA GeFOrce 8800M GTX; happy about that.

    Processor is a Quad 6600, which is what I ordered.

    I am installing software now; and will try and get some bench marks soon.

    This is a sweet box.

    Well some live distros like that, but I am not sure I would go as far as saying most do. I will try and install ubutu on a USB key and see what happens. I really have about a hundred things like that I need to do. So far I have played Guild Wars enough to know that it works, and the response seems good.
