Should I get this model solely for the reason that it can support Quad Core technology.

Not sure how to answer that. It sounds more a personal question that can only be answered by you.
For ME, I went with the 9262 for the SLI 8800's. Once I saw that a quad core desktop processor was configurable, I did a little research and found that it is better than any mobile processor in most applications.
If you want to future-proof your machine then quad-core is probably the best route. However, a new generation of quad-core is supposed to be released in a few months. -
Dont worry Im not gonna get even start an order until like the end of april.
-
Well then I would look very hard at the quad-core. It is the future. By April there should be the next generation of desktop quad-core available in the 9292 or 9263 chassis.
I use my computer for gaming. Right now there are only a handful of games optimized to take advantage of quad-core, but in the next year that will change. -
Yeah, I am really trying to find a notebook that is future proof.
-
It also depends largely on your other components aswell. MB, vid cards and brand of hard drive. I went with PCMW because they offered the most extreme optimisation available at the time, still currently I think too, they were the 1st to have SLI 8800M GTX + Quad Core, and also, their hard drives are Seagate Sata 300 @7200rpm so all round they have the best available parts as well which must be something to consider when spending this type of money.

I found a 9262 for $2967.00 I dont know how I did it but I found it at a base price of $2100 WUXGA screen standard. while Xotic offers it for 2400 or 2500 bucks without the WUXGA screen, I also do what you do Coors and alot more.
-
Still up to you, but i did alot of research first, and there is no rush for you right?

Nope, I can get this laptop at any time as long as its before like the end of June but I am planning on getting it at the end of april.
-
a lot may change with then and so will your questions. -
Alright, the only question that I have left is if it really matters if I get the 2.4 or 2.6 Ghz quad core since they both have the same cache.
-
Well honestly, there are a lot of questions left. What are you planning on using this machine for would be the first one. If you are just gaming, then a duo should be fine. A lot of things can happen between now and April. After all, in October most notebook users had never heard of a solid state drive, let alone realized that they would soon be affordable. While both Nvidia and Intel have JUST released new technology (and this generation's GTX card), who knows what they might do in just 3 short months. Alienware's price on their m15x surprised me, if come in under $4000 for the m17x with dual 8800's that might very well be an option for you.

I will use it for gaming and multimedia, editing but I also want it future proof.
