    UPS just came by and gave me my new lappy. I plan on posting some benches and reviews as sooon as I get to play a bit.

    Initial reaction compared to my m17x initial reaction is WOW. More details to come. Also, initial out of box Windows index is 5.8...not that this means anything, but its what I got.

    I am planning on doing some crysis benchmarks and any other benchmark requests that I can do.

    no problem posting screen shots. But, are there particular settings I should play with? Are there partucular drivers I should install? My plan is to first run what I can on the factory settings.

    What types of things are useful when reporting? I mean a raw FPS is useless unless you know driver versions, opsys versions etc.. So when reporting benchmarks, what information is useful....

    I wouldn't change anything from the stock settings. Things to report are the current driver version you have, resolution you run your test at operating system and include if its 32 or 64bit. Preferably using games that actually have a benchmark built in, such as lost planet, dmc4 ext.

    only thing that matters is crysis benchmark and 3dmark06 :)

    for crysis, can you run these tests;

    all high settings in resolutions 1440x900, 1680x1050, & 1920x1200. you can also run all very high settings afterward.

    Doesn’t he already have the 9262 with 9800M GTX? I believe that’s why we’re waiting on the test, to see what the 9800M GTX can do.

    Just like bwhxeon said, first do your benchmarks with the lappy fresh from the box on stock drivers/settings. Then if you are feeling like it, start downloading different driver versions (ussually from Laptopvideo2go) and start benchmarking each one. This can take a bit of time. I know when I first received my lappy, I downloaded the last 5 driver releases and starting testing. I had results posted somewhere...but that was over 6 months ago..... :eek: my laptop is old!

    Not ignoring everyone. Went to bed early last night. But I am in process of installing Crysis and getting ready for the tests. Question: Is the free version of 3dMark appopriate? Does it give the same scores as the purchased version?

    Yeah, it's appropriate. The free version of 3DMark06 runs at the standard settings (1280x1024 and no AA).

    Looking forward to the scores. :D

    So all the assumptions about 9800 GTX not giving much more than a 9800GT to justify there money came true,i dont see anyth more than a 5% boost..

    If you think 3DMark06 total score, run at the low default resolution is a good test of a high-end video card, I can see why you might be disappointed. :)
