Everytime I clicked on videoview on the desktop it opens and the webcam starts but I get an error "can't open registry key" once you press "ok" the program closes. Any ideas or should I reinstall the driver?

did you first activate the camera by pressing Fn+f10? after after that hit video view.

it seems that every time you start vista or xp it resets to its default state where by it turns off. you will have to turn it on every time

My 5793 certainly doesn't do that, it remembers what state it was in after a shutdown/restart - same as the wireless, bluetooth, etc...
