    Hey guys,
I'm currently looking at different desktop setup possibilities with my laptop and wanted to see if anyone had their laptops, AMD Eyefinity capable to be exact, set up with multiple displays.

I understand the 7970m is capable of handling up to 6 monitors but how does one go about connecting multiple ones? Are there any particular components i'd have to purchase in order to hook up my 9370 up to multiple monitors? Any links or pics perhaps?

    thanks.

You'd need HDMI and DVI (or I believe a displayport capable screen and a displayport connector too) and just hook up other screens that support 1920 x 1080 and you should be able to get the three of them to run in eyefinity just like on a desktop. Even my old D900F can run multiple monitors on a 280m... in fact I'm using them right now. I've got a livestream on the second screen while I type this =D. I'm certain you can do it just as easily. Just buy an HDMI cable (or two if you have two ports) and a DVI cable (or not, if you can use two HDMI cables) and you'll get your eyefinity set up soon enough.

The 7970m is capable of multiple displays but not 6 alone. Besides, external display ports are handled by the chipset/CPU instead of the discrete graphics, unlike desktop add-on graphics cards, which have dedicated controllers for displays.

This guide may be of some help, but the insight is relative to the desktop cards.

    Thanks for the info!

I've run dual screens before, on my desktop w SLI 460's, but being this is my first time in about 10 yrs going red (amd), i'm kind of new to the whole eyefinity experience. So far all i've done is essentially hook up the tv via hdmi but i didn't know if there was a certain way to run it for eyefinity.

Given the np9370 has hdmi and display port would that mean that i'd have to run 1 monitor to hdmi and another to display port *or at least a convert to those outputs*?

I think a conversion MIGHT be in order, however you SHOULD be able to use a combination, once the screens are the same resolution (and helpfully physical) size. I believe eyefinity is when three same-resolution monitors are attached you can use it to get a super widescreen experience. The only real special thing about it was that you could use 3 displays on one card whereas nVidia at the time only allowed for two per card (I'm not sure if this has changed now). Also as the guy above you said, 6 monitors on 1 card is a no no.

    Anytime!

Nailed it. :) You should be able to run off the two ports you have. Worst case is you'd need a HDMI to DVI adapter but I don't think that's necessary.

You can run either and if you need a DVI rather than an HDMI I would recommend a specific HDMI -> DVI cable which is usually much more secure than an adapter in a notebook.
