Hey I just picked up my W150ERQ today and was comparing the screen to 2008 macbook pro.

Has anyone else noticed the whites aren't as well...white as a macbook? The whites on the macbook seem to be whiter. While the Whites on this is "dark" or Saturated. This is a bit concerning for me as I was hoping to do some photoshop work on this although I don't know how the colors will translate now. (Fortunately I was hoping to do mostly web graphics, but I was hoping to do a bit of print here and there too.)

(When I have access to a good camera I'll post some side by side shots)

If you are doing detailed photo work you will need to calibrate like any monitor.

Each panel will have drifted differently.

Comparing any non calibrated panels is pointless.

You gotta invest in one of those calibration tools...

op clearly had no practical need for the 95% gamut when she/he opted for the upgrade. why waste time calibrating now?

Maybe to make it look better? OP does want to do photoshop. I didn't need a high gamut screen, but I've seen a lot of side-by-side comparisons for high and average gamut screens and am willing to shell out $70 to have the upgrade just because I like it.

It does provide better contrast and viewing angles so I got it for me.
