Hi,
Today I received my Spyder 4 Express. I calibrated my screen by following everything what the manual and software said. But I don't see what makes it soo much better. To be honest I like the stock icc profile more. I did get an update from windows for my display called Lenovo Thinkpad Display drivers, although I have the b156hw01 v4 matte...
Also the icc profile that was generated from the Spyder 4 was mote greeny en yellowish looking.. Just try for your self I added all the profiles that iI use in the attachment.
I just don't get why people say that it's a MUST to calibrate the screen. The calibration tool was a waste of my money it costed me 90euros!

are you sure your new profile has been applied? do the colours change when you switch to default profile and back?
-
Yes also I recalibrated again. But now it gives me a more greeny looking filter. It also has a green ghosting effect. I reuploaded the profiles in the attachment.
-
checked your profiles, calibrateddisplayprofile is the one I am currently using as well, its the most accurate profile for 95% gamut matte I have tried so far.
TPLCD95 is one installed by windows updates when it detects 95% gamut screen. It does not change any colour settings at all.
Your one looks green, something must have gone wrong with the calibration. -
Well the calibrateddisplayprofile is my favorite too. But why do some people say that if you calibrate it yourself it's much better?
Also the software did say that i need to set my color temperature to 6500k. How do I do this? -
i have found very little variation between same models of screens, usually a profile made for a specific model will look near identical when applied to another same model screen.
maybe you calibrated your screen with calibrateddisplayprofile calibration already applied? -
any np9170 90% ntsc glossy profile?
-
I believe some Thinkpads do use AUO's 95% gamut displays FYI.
-
Calibration software should auto reset to no profile before it do the job, what setting you using for calibration?
typically should be
6500k or D65
120cdm
Do you get a report of gamut coverage and volume? I never used spyder software so I am not sure. Also try dispcalgui.
Imo, spyder is like a mac ~~ try a x-rite. -
i've attached one for matte of the same model, I found it to be very accurate and work very well for my 90% glossy in my previous laptop.

well x-rite is too expensive. How do I change the settings to 6500k. Is that even possible with a laptop?
I dont know why but I get a green tint everytime I calibrate. -
Since we're on the topic of panel profiles here, I've looked for profiles for the 90% gamut B173HW01 V4 panel, but have not eve been able to come up with anything. Anyone know of any?
-
i've uploaded one for v5 few posts above, I found it worked very well for v4 as well.
-
thank you arcticjoe. add reput
-
just tried but it makes the screen very brownish. why?
-
Because it doesnt work, color is factor by both gpu and the panel. Unless you have same configuration, it usually dun work well.
-
might not be right for your screen then... have a look at some photos, if the colour looks unnatural then maybe your screen is from a different batch..
-
that cant be true... my wife has xps l502x with 95% matte, i have p150em with 95% matte. both completely different config, same profile looks identical on both. In the past I've used same profiles between various different laptops with identical screens (RGBLED SEC5448 on m6400 and m6500, and rgbled on XPS 16 of different generations, etc)
-
Who told you that? What the hell are you talking about.
Btw, something went wrong, another user has the EXACT same problem a very green screen when calibrated, I can't remember if he fixed it.. he was from Norway, let me see if I can find the thread
-
Wat it this thread? I'll Pm him hopefully he has some answers.
Btw does anybody know how to set the screen to 6500k? -
Close enough .........
