The release date for the 9800M GTX has been pushed back from "Early August" to "Mid to Late August" on Xotic, and Sager has pushed it to "Late August". After watching the sli problems with the D901C, I'm beginning to worry very much that we may see the same thing here with the launch date keeping on being pushed back.

For someone who's computer replacement is a PS3, a date being pushed back is rough news. Kinda like a date with a girl who keeps taking rain checks at the last moment... ;)

Any ideas on an actual launch date for the card?

Why would you be in the least surprised?

Why upsetting? The card will be out in due time, and more likely than not SLi will, too, even if the initial release is not 100% smooth.

Anyone know if i can use the same cooling harnesses for the 9800GT as the GTX? I'd think that'd save me a bit if I decide to upgrade the SLI.

The 9800M GTX is a power hungry monster. It will likely require some sort of cooling mod compared to the GT. But then again, if its a brand new chip, based off 55nm fab proc, perhaps it will use the same cooling.

Shyster, I'm just a little upset because using my PS3 to post and do my computer work isn't the easiest thing to do. I'm getting anxious for that system! :)

There is that, but then the cardinal rule of computers is, don't base your decision on what you need on what's supposed to be coming out, only on what's actually out. If it comes to it, the only available option seems to me to be to get the system with the least expensive card, and then upgrade when and as the 9800M GTX becomes available.

Oh I agree. I fully knew it was going to be this way when I ordered. Just a little bummed it was pushed back further. And I have my work computer too... Now the question is, since the GTX is $400 on top of the GT, did I pay for the GT and the GTX card? I noticed that the 9262 is showing the second card for sli to be just a little more. Would it have cost about the same to get the GT, then buy the GTX? I'm thinking it might have...

    lol don't we all?!? girls...

I wouldnt worry about the cooling i mean with the 5796 keeping the 9800GT at 68 degrees on full load on crysis i think it will be able to handle th e9800 GTX from the 90degree threshold.

If they wait much longer it'll probably challenged by the Ati Mobility 4850. Hopefully :)
