As this is just a post from a lurker.

So far the 9800gtx is noted to be the strongest and newest card available thus far. ;) 96 shaders on the 8800gtx and 112 shaders on the 9800gtx :)

    BUT!...that is ONLY for the Desktop-scene ;)

Laptop: Note that there are many people saying that the 9800gtx is just a 8800gtx, renamed, for Nvidia sales purposes.

That be the 9800m GT that is thought to be rebranded. This is erroneous. The 9800m GT is its own card with similar features but differs a bit in performance and has the 9 series features.

On the case of the GTX, most people think the performance increase does not justify the price, as it is as small as 15%, or say, 5-10 FPS in real life gaming to the 9800m GT.

The 9800M GTX is ONLY worth it if you have the extra money to spend. As of right now, it cannot be overclocked, but has the performance of an overclocked 9800M GT. Still waiting on OC support.

I owned both the 8800M GTX and the 9800M GTX and to be honest, there is little difference between the two. If you are planning on gaming at the full 1920x whatever resolution, you'll want the GTX.

But like I said, its all about the money and having the most powerful card on the market.

Actually I think you mean "Go with the 9800GTX, for name's-sake" ;)

No, I meant its all about the money and having the most powerful card on the market.

I agree with emike09. If you have money to spend, then definetly take GTX.
