what is the difference, performance-wise between the 9800m gt and the 9800m gtx. NBcheck.net shows only about 200pts difference on 3Dmark06, but I've also heard to take them with a large grain of salt. If anyone has the GTX in their np5796, can they please enlighten me as to its scores / performance vs. the GT and vice versa?

    Thanks

    be no more than 15%

prob like 5-10% in real world FPS imo

+512 gfx mem not needed for any thing atm

    9800m GTX
    Compute Cores 112
    Gigaflops 420

    9800m GT
    Processor Cores 96
    Gigaflops 360

its nicer.. but not nicer en ugh to make it worth while i think... also at the temps the 9800m GT is running in the m860tu i wouldn't be suprized if some resellers put 9800m GTX in them soon.... and make it max out at 100c m15x style lol.

i guess the question is.. do u care about 2-3 fps more in crysis? i cant say i do with Crysis warhead minimal requirements actually dropping from the first game... and farcry2 being able to run on much weaker hardware at higher settings.... so yer.. kind of useless.. u will prob need DX11 hardware support before you push your 9800m GTX to any real walls.

9800m gtx in a 15" profile?! wouldn't that devastate the heat threshold akin to putting in an x9100 into it? I'm trying to figure out what route to go to build a reasonable sized gaming laptop (np8660 or np5796) that won't bust the budget or cause LIPA to double my electric bill (hence no np9262.... although it looks like /win)

I usually don't trust notebookcheck because sometimes they can be grossly misleading. However, their actual in-game comparison chart at http://www.notebookcheck.net/typo3temp/pics/c9777c69e9.gif is interesting, and very surprising. It shows the 9800M GTX as having less than a 10% FPS advantage over the 9800M GT in the five games tested!

Nobody has the 9800 GTX to do a comparison, yet.
