So they're just around the corner and appear to be cooler than 880M and more powerful. Which Clevo reseller do you think will be the first to list them on their customization page? Which will be the first to ship a 980M machine into the wild?

I'm guessing Sager for that. Hopefully these cards don't have the debilitating problems the 880m does.

im assuming that all resellers will actually have similar if not identical config/ordering/shipping dates, its always been like that :) and of course it also depends on where u stand on the ordering list, if u get ur rig sooner or later.

I remember in the old days of the 9800M GTX (which I believe Helen of Troy was a fan of) some resellers in the US were taking pre-orders about this stage in the release cycle. I remember they got a lot hassle from people who took "ETA 2 weeks" a little too literally, and then they took a lot of flak from people who realized they were not paying more (relative to Sager) to get the card early, they were just paying more to book one early...

Any speculation if the 980M will work in a Sager NP9150 / Clevo P150EM?

A few years ago would have been a cert, but it's not the same Clevo any more (in this respect). Now you're left waiting months possibly an eternity for Prema's act of charity...

It's too difficult at this point to speculate either way. It will require testing.

Speculation in the form of conjectural consideration doesn't do any good anyway. At this point, it's more or less certain that the 980M will not work in the EM series at launch.

For availability, I can say in the past that Sager has had them available as soon as the NDA is lifted. For future cards only time will tell.

Woah, that's leaping the other way, you can never be sure until the card is in the system.

Now obviously the demand on these cards is going to be high so I don't see many "spare" cards floating around for a bit.

The post was based purely on "official" support (which, at the time and from the powers that be, claimed it was a no-go), but then you're right; technically it's all hearsay until you pop it in there. Should have chosen my words a little more carefully.

Companies will always tell you a solid no if it's not official even if it clearly does. I mostly ignore their say on such matters at this point because they won't have even considered it let alone tested it.

I would rather they just said it's untested and they offer no warranty, it can give people the wrong idea otherwise.
