    Hi guys, So my laptop got repaired and they replaced my 970m with a 980m as it was determined that the 970m was faulty, Now i'm pretty stoked about that dont get me wrong but i'm getting less performance, A lot less.

    I can connect a 4k display (Via DP) and only get 30-40% gpu utilization and sitting at 20 FPS in world of warcraft, I've set in the control panel to only use the nvidia gpu, And to only run at max performance, Temps are phenominally low across the board on my whole machine but i can't seem to max out gpu usage.

    Ideas?

    @Mr. Fox You've used 980m's before havn't you, How'd you fix it?

    And before anyone asks, I have the 240W power supply, I'm not overclocking anything, Clocks are at max, For both Vram and gpu, The usage simply wont go up, Cpu is at it's normal 33x multi aswell, There is no reason why it shouldn't be running properly.

    Does running the external in 1080p increase util% to the same as on your internal 1080p panel?

    Vbios my friend, vbios.

    Had same issue with my old GTX 880m.Once I installed the vBIOS from svl7 it ran like butter. So Id suggest you should go for a nice custom vBios and roll with it. Remember to backup your old vbios in case anything should go wrong.

    I have Prema BIOS v2 and vBIOS v2 but still experience similar low gpu usage in GTA5. The Division runs perfectly fine 98% GPU usage and fps is capped 120fps.

    Might it be CPU bottlenecking?

    60-100 with medium and 40-80 when maxed out. Only max settings make gpus work 99%.

    @Rayleyne i guess Vsync is off? and look at CPU usage, if some cores are at max utilisation could be CPU bottleneck + check temps maybe even some throttling in the worst case which results in that issue.

    Vsync on or off, Nothing makes it go above 50% usage, Cpu usage is low and a non issue, I'm not out of ram, Theres no pagefile thrashing, It just doesn't make any sense, It won't even go to boost clocks unless i force renderscale over 100% (only available in some games, Overwatch, wow, Sc, Diablo, etc)

    try using HWinfo64 and use the "Sensor only" function, there should be a seperate column for "throttling reasons" check if something fires up, what i would try to is set WoW to dx9 if not tried yet.

    Make sure you are in the balanced or high performance power plan and check what frequency your CPU and GPU are running at.
