    980m coil whine?

    Noise only occurs when folding. Hasn't happened while gaming. Sounds like it's primarily coming from the slave card, whine pitch is directly related to core clock, and doesn't go away across the +/- 135mHz adjustable range.

    Is it harmful or just annoying? It comes through my headphones too

    Annoying more than anything. Folding will be a pretty unique workload.

    From what I understand the only other scenario would be a short circuit of some sort, but I have no instability or other issues that would point to such

    I heard about this whine noise in the owners thread for the batman Clevo; there is a YouTube video in there.
    More reports is not a positive start for this gpu indicating possibly a hardware issue.

    Well this is weird... Let it run overnight when I was asleep and it's barely audible now. Completely silent with a small underclock
