So what the big difference between the 980x and the 990x both being LGA 1366 both being hexcore both 12MB cache and both being 32nm besides 980x 3.33GHZ and the 990x being 3.4GHZ and beside I own a 980x and it multi being unlocked it overclocks like a dream and yes if someone thinks I'm lying i can provide pics of my rig.
-
Yeah so basically the same as the 920XM and 940XM situation. You can take the 980X to 990X levels and probably beyond. But I digress, I want a x7200 so bad though.
-
the closck speed is the only difference. yes you can OC the 980x to 990x speeds. but it explains why the difference in cost is only 50 dollars.
-
wow... a little aggressive? -
Megacharge Custom User Title
No offense but you should have posted this at desktop review or in the "off topic" section as this is about desktop processors, not mobile ones. Mods don't like this kind of thing, so expect this thread to be moved.

sorry for coming in the topic so hard But I had some people on other fourms say if there no pictures its not true.
Do you guys know the Intel Edge program?
I was in the program two times and one time there where selling intel QX6850 EE for $250 I bought and then the unlock multi bug hit me again So I got the 980x last year. -
This thread has now become relevant in this section as Origin have added the 990x to their x7200
-
stupid though. performance boost is basically negligible.
-
Yeah true, I'm guessing people have taken the 980X further with throttlestop in the x7200?
-
Like all 'X' processors, mobile or desktop, this processor is a total waste for gamers' needs. Stay away unless you do some sick levels of encoding.
-
engadget posted a site that oc'd the 990x on a laptop to 4.6 ghz.
-
I think it was clever wording. I interpreted it at first thinking it was in the laptop but later realised it was the fact that they offer the 990X in the laptop and can also take it to 4.6GHz in their desktop model. Sneaky buggers. They've also taken 2600k SB beyond 5GHz

990x released. press release out on yesterday on valentines day.
