Were you holding in the shift key for a long time? It may be the stickey keys option turning on.

Mine has done that twice as well. I've noticed that it only happens when I don't have my fans turned all the way up and I've been playing for a while, but I don't know for sure that it's a temp alarm.

Googling on variants of "three long beeps" consistently brings up references to a keyboard error (although one or two also referred to a possible video-card error). When you boot, are you getting any non-fatal (I suppose the term is, recoverable) POST errors?

beeeeeeeeeeep beep beep is the one for desktop video card errors.

and will usually only happen during a boot up sequence.

beeping during operation is more than likely some form of heat or keyboard error.

I have not heard any beeps yet on my 9262 by the way, during any of my gaming.

Is it odd that I never hear my fans on full, unless I force them, even after several hours of gaming? Also, never heard beeping during operation, and it never seems to get hot enough to downclock, so after hours of COD4, and fans not kicking into high, it still runs as if I had just turned it on. I have started forcing fans just to make sure everything is cool.

    Hey Rusak,

Were you gaming on battery?? Your computer will beep when battery power is low (assuming you haven't muted PC Beep in the volume controls). Just a thought.

I just remembered that mine did beep several times once, while gaming, because my power cord came loose, and I had been playing on battery for almost an hour.

    Good thinking Pete.

I also noticed 3 long beeps while playing the witcher a couple weeks ago while I was plugged in and thought it might be a heat warning, but the laptop was barely warm to the touch over the gpu. It happened a second time about 5 minutes later and that was the last time I've heard it. It would be nice if there was some sort of message log that would tell the reason why. It would also be nice if I could find a heat monitoring program that worked.

You can use nTune for the 8800M GTX at the moment.

I am still trying to see if a certain driver would get RivaTuner to do it as well.

still no clear answer on this.
Since I am still within 30days with sager I am seriously thinking about
sending it back cause I just dont think computer should be doing this.
I will send them tech tell about this and will let you know what
they say. I do remember last time I heard these series of beeps that
my fan was on full and that I know from the sound of it lol.
btw I am running x6800 on 900c base

Ok as I said before I will let you all know whats up.
I have contacted Sager tech and they did confirm that those
beep noise posiblly from over heating.
First they sugested that I use (Fn+F1) to increase fan speed.
Since that didnt stop beeping they suggested that it might
be video card over heated. They suggested that I up lifted laptop
to give more air. 2 days and I havent heard a beep but I am still
    not happy.
One thing I am happy about that its not my CPU x6800. I had it even
stress tested and it was cool as ice. (well not ice but I was happy)
So about that air flow. You think I might have bad fans for vid card?
Not sure if I should just exchange or what.

Quick question that seems to be germane to the discussion in this thread. I know that on CPUs a thermal paste is used to maximize the contact between CPU and heatsink, and that mistakes in putting the paste down can cause CPU overheating problems. My question: is a similar solution used for the GPUs, and would it be worth while for the posters with the mystery beeping to check on the contact between the GPU and the GPU's own heatsink?

<<<<posters with the mystery beeping to check on the contact between the GPU and the GPU's own heatsink?>>>>>

there is no mystery here. I dl tempcheck program a day ago but didnt have
time to do more test cause of my 30day policy. As I said before sager
tech ask me to lift up laptop to give more intake air room. Since I work during
week I couldnt run game for long time to see/check if that happens again.
I did notice tho that my video card showed high temp during last
2 days but did not hear any beep. At one point temp program showed
video card at 79c. Not sure what is boiling point here.
CPU x6800 was running around 59-60c. ( according to temp program)
Thank you for your suggestion tho but I dont think I am gona open up
$4000+ laptop and temper with it during my 30 day period.
I have alredy shiped it back to sager.
Having said that I still belive in Sager. I am proud owner of NP5660 and loved
it for over 3+ years with one minor problem what was fixed fast.
I am thinking to try that new 5793 x9000.

The air goes out through the Vents. The air goes in where the fans are located. That`s why it`s better to keep the laptop raised,so that the air underneath stays cold.

As I said before I didnt have more time to test it with longer
game time. Abviously it wasnt fine before I lift it up about one
inch up with 3cd cases. This just didnt seem like normal thing
    to happen.
My sager np5660 ran same game and many times I would make
it run game for few days strait without loging out using mouseclick
program to avoid autoboot from inactivity. Never had a single heat
    issue with it.

my one day old 9262 beeped as well a short while ago playing supreme commander. i think it was 4 short beeps. it did these beeps a few more times and not anymore. how annoying.

laptop was on a glass table with so it cannot be related to heat. i hope it was just "the laptop breaking in", heh. if i hear it again a few more times i will have to consider returning this rig as it is not normal and i am pretty sure raising the laptop or putting max fans won't solve the problem.

i should monitor the gpu temps next time it does this.

hmm, it just did it again after loading crysis for a few minutes. only did it once and it was just constant short beeps did 4 and was going into it's 5th beep (the 5th beep stopped half way through) and then i heard the fans spin faster and the beeps stopped.

maybe this is "normal" and just letting you know that the gpu temps are high and start to apply high fan speeds? don't know.

i am not running sager's drivers so maybe thats why? i should switch to sager's and see again. i am very positive it is not heat related it can't be. i monitored the temps a short while and the gpu's never hit 80c, they hovered around mid 70's.

79C should not happen on a laptop like this.
It must be a manufacturing defect, and since you sent it to Sager already, they`ll take care of it.

Perhaps what I've seen in the past is just a _Dell idiosyncracy, or perhaps a desktop idiosyncracy - I have an older _Dell slimline system with a BIOS (system BIOS, not video BIOS) that keeps a rudimentary log of certain events that occur at boot. Obviously, that's not going to catch transient errors that occur during runtime but don't leave a permanent trace; however, if whatever's driving your problems is due to some sort of fundamental problem with the hardware, it may have left some sort of a trace in the POST log. It's just one more potential resource to look at to try and find useful clues.

ARGH , my Gpu never goes beyond 65C .
The CPU however maxxes out at 68C .
On full blast I get some 3 C less.

it also did it in sngle gpu mode when i ran the crysis benchmark.

it has only done it in wuxga resolution, though. and i am running with sager's drivers this time. this is dissapointing. i am wondering if the same kind of heat related issues are plauging all 8800m gtx laptops.

ok i am monitoring the temps with rivatuner much more closely here, and i have seen 89.5c playing crysis. i would think this is still a safe temp for a gpu. i am trying to make the beep sounds again. quite annoying to get them to appear. they seem random.

Dude, that temp IS WAY TO HIGH for your notebook.
You should be getting max 70-75C .
    I know I sound repetitive but :
-Raise the back of the laptop a few inches
-Keep it on a SOLID surface, not on fabric
-Check for dust,it`s grounds for overheating
-If all else fails, contact the reseller and tell them that your GPU is overheating, where all other 9262 users see max temps of 70C...

the laptop is only 2 days old so dust is not the culprit.

the laptop is always on a flat surface and the vents are never blocked. i should not have to raise the laptop as it should not be overheating in the first place. also, i know about max fans, but the fans are designed to increase their rpm as temps increase so i should not need to run max fans (it's pointless) and i do not operate the laptop in the desert, regardless.

i did contact sager and they said to raise the laptop and run max fans. forget that lol. you should not need to do these things in a normal household environment. only thing i can do is ask other 9262 owners what their gpu temps are.

Well, as far as my short term memory doesn`t fail me, 9262 users reported max 70C as their temps. So a 20C difference is A LOT for a new laptop.
Call sager again and complain until they`ll RMA your GPU. It`s under warranty, and you`re the first one to have such high temps.
Now, I`m guessing you`re not overly OCing the system, are you? :D
