Guys,
My fiancé wants to get a game laptop to play Dreamfall and Alan Wake etc. and is looking to me to pick it. She wants light and gaming capable and I don't want to replace it for years. All roads point o the 9150 because it is sub 7lbs and she loves mine. I just got the thing and always said they could pry it out of my cold dead hands, not just because of the speed but build quality including the 95% gamut matte screen I opted for.
My only quip with the 9150 is the screen size. Playing LOTRO I've noticed text is a bit small for me at native resolution and I'm somewhat missing my old 17 Gateway FX in that regard.
So I'm contemplating grabbing a 9170 and giving her my beloved 9150. I see the only high gamut option is glossy though. How is the matte base and matte 72% option? Black levels, color and clarity on my 9150's upgraded screen are simply stunning. I'm going to freak if the 9170 can't compete, or has poor black levels.
Help please! Including venders... I have no other concerns here except screen quality really. Sorry so long winded...

If you know you already like the higher gamut screens i would go with the 72% matte. Since you current computer has a matte screen i'd stick with that and sacrifice the difference in gamut % to stick with matte. I think you'll like it better overall then the 90% glossy, that screen is pretty glossy.
It will be nice but not quite like the 95% matte 15.6", thats just a beauty. -

Or you could go 9370 and get a 3d screen...... just saying

Meakers suggestion is good too. Besides it being 3D its also 120hz vs 60hz the others are, and its a 72% NTSC gamut.

I have the matte screen on my NP9170. It's perhaps not as vibrant as the glossy screens, but colors look great in both light and dark situations.
The screen does have limited viewing angles though; if you aren't looking directly at it, it can be a bit washed out.
Go with the dead pixel guaranty. Others may argue against it, saying you can always return the laptop if you are not satisfied. Some companies will make you pay for the shipping, which is about what it costs for the guaranty. Just my 2 cents.
A 2nd Sager - Loath to give up my 9150, need assurance!
