So, I was browsing the Clevo site earlier, and noticed this. Is this another product coming to NA any time soon?![]()
CLEVO - Products
Edit: These two 15"ers with the 555M aswell

It also has a switchable graphic button. Nice. Wish I had that on my P150.
-
Who knows, also check out the the 15" models W150HM and W150HQ.
-
Is this 555m much better than 540m?
-
Yeah, I'd get the Sager 8150 or 8170 today, if it had a graphics switch like that.
From a cursory glance, I'd say it'd perform on par with or slightly worse then the 460m, if the 555m was equipped with GDDR5. -
It should be just above 50% more performance; also above the older 9800M GT.
-
Dammit, what the hell man. I just got the 5160 because I was convinced there wouldn't be any updates this year.
-
Oh my goodness...my NP5160 order is still in Phase 1...time to press the delay button.
-
Hang on now. No reseller has actually confirmed they might be coming NA side, nor does Sager list anything concerning it.
-
In this industry, your laptop is easily outdated within 6 months or less.
-
I literally received it today -_-
Besides, the 5160 only started shipping 2 weeks ago -
Yeah, thing is that the NP5160 has a shorter than average (6 month) shelf life because of the Sandy Bridge controller fiasco.
-
The detail page say 2GB DDR3.
So it's the same as this one:
The 192-bit Bus Width and significant shader advantage (144 vs 96) guarantees that the GT 555M smashes the GT 560M.
I wonder if Sager and ProStar will import it. If it's below $1k, like the NP5160, that's a great machine. -
It will probably be a quiet update/replacement for the NP5160, seeing that ONLY the graphics card changed in this model. Maybe "NP 5165"?
-
I'm silly.
-
2GB DDR3 means 128bit DDR3.
It would be a GT555M with 28.8GB/s memory bandwidth. -
Ahhh, I just caught that it does indeed say DDR3 in the detailed specs.
-
does anyone have any idea when this could be coming out? I just ordered a 5160, but I'm coming from an 8660. I finally decided it was time to compromise as I wanted battery life and am sick of carrying around a heavy gaming laptop when I only get to play games on breaks from University. The 555m sounds perfect as it isn't a downgrade from my 9800m gt. I'd cancel my order if I knew this would come out within the next two months or so.
-
Unless you chose a GT555M with 192bit D3 or 128bit GD5....
9800m gt ->GT555M with 128bit D3
Downgrade indeed. -
Arggh! Thanks for the guidance. At least I can rest easy knowing that the options aren't getting that much better.
-
notebook check paints a very different picture though
-
Beware, NBC's data about GT555M such as benchmark scores comes from a Dell XPS 17's GT555M with 192bit D3.
-
GT555M 128bit D3 running 3dmark06
Notice that the resolution is 1280x768 other than 1280x1024 -
Ouch, 128-bit hurts a lot. I guess it's nothing to get excited over.

Yes the GT555M will be offered soon. Sorry no ETA...
_ -
you have lots of comments like this
lots of "soon but no ETA"'s
thanks though
keeps people on their toes
-
NDAs and/or non-specific information from their suppliers = non-specific information to us. = D
-
Larry,
Will both the updated models be available (5160 and 5170)? -
The 3DMark 06 bench does not represent the GPU performance. Keep in mind that pc had a Core i5-2410.

That was not clear. This card, (GeForce GT 555M) of course has been announced some time ago by nVidia and even other's like Dell are using it.
It should not surprise anyone that Clevo/Sager models will have it.
